A match made in heaven?

Mo Farah wants to become a fitness coach at Arsenal following his retirement from Athletics.

According to reports, the double Olympic champion is an ardent Arsenal fan and is willing to offer his services to help improve the fitness of Arsene Wenger’s squad.

The 29-year-old said:

‘I don’t think I’d be any good at playing, but I’d like to help out at the Gunners for sure.

‘I was talking to my wife the other day and I said: ‘I’d make a good fitness coach for the team or something.

‘I could try to help players if they were injured or going through hard times, be able to do little things with them.’

It’s just a match made in heaven, isn’t it? Farah is a huge Gooner and his fitness regimes are second to none, while the Arsenal squad in general could do with a fitness coach who could potentially stop the rot, in terms of injuries.

It would be great to see ‘The Mobot’ train with our players and keep them fit and healthy – lord knows we could do with this.

If Farah is serious about taking up the role – which it seems like he is – then Wenger should definitely consider the Brits proposal, as it can only be a good thing for the club in whole.

I love Mo and am pleased he is a gooner but your analysis of this is wide of the mark. you intimate that Mo could come in as a trainer at Arsenal and our injury record will immediately improve and talk about him as if he is some super trainer and the missing link for arsenal football club. the reality is that Mo does understand high level training but in a completely different format to that of a footballer and he would likely have a huge learning curve to be an effective football trainer.
