As we all know, and I’m sorry for repeating old news guys, Robin van Persie and Alex Song both left the club last week and with Theo Walcott looking the next player to head out of the door – due to negotiations of a new deal stalling – Ray Wilkins has decided to place Thomas Vermaelen under the spotlight and draw more unwanted attention to our club.

With Roberto Mancini desperate to land another centre-back to boost Manchester City’s bid to retain their Premier League title, the former England international has told the Italian to go for the new Arsenal captain.

Manchester City have reportedly tabled a £30 million offer for Chelsea defender David Luiz, but Wilkins believes Vermaelen would be a better option.

He told talkSPORT:

‘If I was Manchester City, I would look at Vermaelen to play alongside [Vincent] Kompany.

‘Kompany on the right side, Vermaelen on the left side, you would have a rock solid back two there. And he probably wouldn’t cost you £30million either.

‘For that sort of money, Vermaelen looks a very, very good centre-half and he’s naturally left sided, so that would seem a good option.’

Although he makes some good points, claiming the Belgian would be a better buy than the Brazilian, Vermaelen is not for sale!

With all that is and has been going on at the club in the past few days, do we really need more unwanted attention? Especially when it concerns one of our best players? No, we don’t.

I think Wilkins needs to mind his own business and focus more on his punditry and commentary – we all know he needs too.

‘Wouldn’t cost you £30 million’? Go back to bed Wilko!

Its a bitter pill to swallow but being arsenal’s captain simply means u’re next on line to be sold. Our club is equipping rival clubs by giving away our best players. We need a change else we will find it difficult to win epl again.

Everyone at Arsenal is for sale. The Club have proved that…..

He and Kompany already do well together on the Belgian side. It would be a natural and simply put he should go if they give him what Nasri got, or Adebayor for that matter. Arsenal knows these men have finite lives, and one cannot blame them for maximizing what their physical gifts allow them. Wenger making you a captain seems to bait other sides. What is it..The Gunners have made over 220 million or so in the last six years since Henry left on investment of 55 -60 million. That is good business on the balance sheet, but not the way to attract players to build your squad..Can you imagine Adams or Wright or any of them having their wages doubled and not leaving?

if u want to know how Wenger runs the club, read his comment about song’s sale in his presser today at Arsenal.com. He gets unknown players, develop and sell them. Not for winning title. He doesnt care a heck about fans crying for silverware. No one knows whether it is the ideas of that stan and the board or Wenger himself. I wish this management disappear when I wake up tommorrow.

Nothing is impossible when it comes to Arsenal trading their assets for profit, in expence of Trophies. Not even the sail of Arsene wenger to a rivary club as an Assistant Coach…!
