Would you take £15M for this winger?

PSG and Chelsea are ready to test Arsenal’s resolve over Theo Walcott by making official bids for the 23-year-old, according to the Daily Mirror.

The England international only has one year left to run on his existing contract at The Emirates and is yet to pen a new deal, leaving many Arsenal fans (not me in particular) worried about losing the services of the former Southampton forward.

Walcott currently earns around £65,000-a-week and wants an improved deal to stay at Arsenal. However, it is believed that the club are considering the possibility of selling the Englishman this summer and may listen to offers of around £15 million rather than losing him on a potential free, should he of course not extend his stay.

Last season Walcott managed to bag eight goals and 11 assists for the Gunners, but still has his critics.

To be honest, I wouldn’t shed a tear if Walcott was sold to either Chelsea or PSG, but the latter would make more sense.

He’s been at the club for nearly seven years and hasn’t really stepped up to the plate, and at 23, he should be a world-beater by now, but he isn’t.

If a club, whoever it may be, table a £15 million bid for Walcott this summer then I would certainly consider it. Besides, we have Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ready to step in!

I like theo and no he is not a world class player, but he does have outstanding pace and can score goals as well as create them. 15 million would be a tidy sum if he does not sign a new contract before start of season. However, I disagree that if he goes oxlaide chamberlain is there, the young man did brilliantly and grew as the season wore on but putting too much on his shoulders to quickly might be the wrong thing to do. we have miyachi, Gervinho and yennaris all capable of playing there too rotating the three to give oxlaide chamberlain the chance to grow and mature into the side and anyway his ability to step inside or out make him better suited to the am roleI would rather theo sign and prove that he has what it takes to do what he does best more consistently.

15 mil. Is not a bad deal considering he is in last year of his contract but is not a good one either…..but what does matter is do you want him in ur team…..say 35 mil. For van persie is good return for a player in his last year of contract, but to buy his quality or better would cost atleast twice….now why do u think they want walcott because they see what u idiot supporter dont see in him….i am sure they dont think walcott is regular 1st team product but know is more than capable of being that and want to increase competition for place…..walcott has all sort of experience for a 23 year old player and is unplayable on his day but need consistency, so there is now competition for his position in arsenal with ox and even gervinho…..i think this lack of competition was one reason for his inconsistency but now i think walcott will move forward and at the end of next season his critics (only who arsenal supporter) will be glad to have him in our team

I hope English is not your first language otherwise it is you who is ‘idiot supporter’. Walcott is an average player and 15M will do. He can’t even get above Milner in the England team. His best position would be left back on the bus.

      • MartyP says:

Using Milner as an example just points out whagt a poor choice Hodgson was for manager.

      • Big-D says:

Space cadet, you’re a bloody idiot. Walcott is in developmental stages of his career where he shows glimpses of his potential as he trains and progresses. At 23 he still has 2 years of mid level form ahead of him until he peaks. During that time supporters are expected to SUPPORT THE TEAM and SUPPORT THE PLAYERS. Those that choose to belittle the players who struggle through injuries or for form should not support this club and if need be should go and support some one else.
A prime example of this system would be A. Young now of Man Utd. When he first arrived at Villa, he was a prospect. As time went on he grew into a top player, but during his frequent dips in form the Aston Villa faithful got behind their man and SUPPORTED HIM. At 23 he was still considered to be rather average- yet at 25 every top club wanted him. Theo is almost reaching that stage and you say get rid??
        WHO’S REALLY THE IDIOT SUPPORTER???

Oh and dont be ridiculous. 15m is not a fair price for Theo for all the work we’ve put into him. Try 25m. We bought him for 15m you muppets

  • adewale says:

i want us to sell dat guy is playin nothing either,15million will be a masssive random for walcot if”s sold pls sell him & again his not consisted of a player

  • joeyk says:

15 million!!!!!!!!!! ……take it id even pay for his flight to paris, theo has huge potential but after 7 years he still cant beat a player with skill or cross a ball then im sorry but take the money and invest in a quality winger for example stevan jovetic and adam johnson.

  • adewale says:

kudos to all arsenal fan pls mr wenger should jst closed his eye & persuade the board to sell theo walcott
,bcos to me has a person walcott is not a player i can even talk abt nt to even compare him with alex chamberlain……….ps arsenal fans should voice out i wish we could that guy dis summer,,,,,,thank you

    • Big-D says:

Go and support someone else you muppet. Arsenal players need your support. You have no idea how lucky we are to have Theo. If you cant see how much he’s developed and the type of player he’s shaping into then your an idiot

  • bc says:

15 seems a little short but if we were to get hoilett for the anticipated 500k then it would not seem so bad. if we then spent the remaining money as well then it wouldnt be so bad. with hoilett chamberlain campbell podolski gervinho and ryo all capable of playing left and right i dont think walcott leaving is as terrible as it sounds. perhaps psg could offer us 25m plus gameiro and sakho for walcott and rvp. at least then we wouldnt have to see theo and robin playing for one of our rivals.

  • brooklyn says:

Clearly you dont understand football and clearly you do not get what i am saying….i agree that inconsistency is walcott’s problem but u dont see it is the only thing that stops him to be counted as world class winger….compare stats of average walcott and who u think is the world class winger in premier league and you will see average walcott is not that far behind world class winger, it is just his mentality and consistency that needs to be improved which i think will improve due to competition for place……mexes was selected ahead of koscielny do you think mexes is better than kos…..and u dont seem to notice the difference between the way england and arsenal play….why do u think walcott was brought on for milner after going behind against sweden…. I am sure u think hogdson is an idiot for substituting better player with average player

    • Space Cadet says:

I am not calling Hogdson an idoit, he chose Milner above Walcott because of his defensive ability and dare I say consistency. But if Walcott was more of a consistent goal threat, with better defensive positioning and if he could cross better then Hodgson would have choosen Walcott. Mexes was selected above Kos because he was the CB all through their qualification and long unbeaten run.

If you say it is just his mentality and consistency that needs to be improved then it’s you who knows nothing about football. What about crossing, tackling, positioning, dribbling and finishing? My problem with Walcott is not that he’s average, but the fact that he has not signed a new contract, rather he wants more money per week to play his average football and if 15M is offered it should be exepted.

  • Siphiwe says:

£15m is a good sum, but only if it’s to PSG. Not to Chelsea as we are strengthening them.

But that £15m would have to be spent on another winger, someone like Affelay, Adam Johnson etc etc

  • nicky says:

Walcott’s main asset is his pace.
The worry is the effect a serious injury would have on this ability.
I think we can leave it to Arsene Wenger to decide Walcott’s contribution to our Club and whether or not to offer him an extension to his contract.

  • mr arsenal says:

i bleave as arsenal fun we need him coz he’s english player he’s young and he is better then 30 m

    so plz keeep him
