I don’t know who to believe anymore!

Dutch journalist Thijs Slegers believes Robin van Persie will leave Arsenal and seal a move to Manchester City this summer.

Slegers told the Andy Goldstein Show this past Saturday:

‘I don’t think Robin will leave the Premier League, but I do think that he will leave Arsenal.

‘Robin loves England, England loves Robin.’

Asked where, if he stays in the Premier League, he would go to by Goldstein, Slegers replied:

‘I think it will be [a move to] City or Chelsea.’

Slegers was then pushed by the presenter to state which out of the two aforementioned Premier League clubs Van Persie would go to, the Dutch journalist quickly responded with:

‘City. Manchester City. I know some people around him and they say he will leave for sure. I can’t quote them, but I believe them, I’ve known them for years.’

He finished off by saying:

‘It’s the toughest decision of his [Robin’s] life because he loves Arsenal, but Robin also loves to win prizes. In the end, a career is built up on prizes.’

I don’t actually know who to believe anymore!

Firstly you get Van Persie’s dad, Bob, come out a few days ago and rule out a move to Manchester City, then you get Slegers saying he knows some people that circulate around Robin and say that he will be going to City for sure this summer!

To be honest with you guys, I’m not going to believe either Bob or Slegers. Instead, I’m going to wait anxiously and see what Robin does and say after the completion of the Euros.

I just hope, if he does leave, that he doesn’t stay in the Premier League – that would hurt!

He won’t stay in the league that’s for sure

I think his dad was throwing up a smoke-screen for his City move. It’s inevitable now, especially with Giroud close to signing.
But RVP won’t score 15 goals next year at City and can we honestly believe he will be injury-free again?
Sell him and balance the team with Pod, Giroud & Theo – Jack, Song & Arteta pulling the strings, and allow TheOx to grow and get more games.

The rumour i heard with the RVP deal was £15m+ Johnson & De Jong.

There is no way Arsenal would get de Jong and Johnson plus 15 m. Very much either or and more likely to be just a straight offer of 20m.

Great player but I hope he stays at Arsenal. If he left it would leave a hole far too big to plug.

Really can’t see him joining another Premier League club. There aren’t many footballers thesedays that are 100% trustworthy, but I couldn’t see Van Persie moving to another English club.

Chelsea is a ridiculous suggestion, Man City is the most viable English club but can only see him leaving to Italy or Spain.

Lots of talk of Juventus at the moment. They won Serie A last season, but with Podolski signed and it looking like Giroud is on his way, we have as much chance of winning silverware as Juve next season if Van Persie stays. After all his injuries, it’d be nice if he gives us one more season and if we fail to win something, let him leave. He might not have as successful a season, but it’s not as if top clubs will all lose interest in him. He deserves to win trophies, but it looks as if we’re showing promising signs this transfer window.

If we sign M’Vila, Podolski, Giroud etc, and Van Persie still leaves (after his first great full season) despite Arsenal showing the ambition he requested, i’ll lose a lot of respect for him. If we fail to make adequate additions to the team, I won’t blame him for looking elsewhere.

To be honest you can come to a logical conclusion without the complication of hordes of squawking shitehawks saying they know this they know that, just look at how this summer has unfolded to know the omens aren’t good.

    1. Arsenal issue a command of media silence from RVP and themselves, despite a good positive meeting. Why? what good can this possibly achieve? Only one and that is for us to conduct the business of finding his replacement under the radar and without being held to ransom by the selling club. I think he knows where he’s heading already and the deal is possibly already in place and was before the meeting.

    2. Hill-Wood begins the inevitable back down by preparing supporters for what is to come with his statement of us not being able to compete with top wages and that it will be impossible to hold onto Robin if offers like that are made. Again why? why would you even say something like that? Why not just shut up and hope that such offers aren’t forthcoming? Unless of course you know full well that a deal has already been struck and you have no intention of turning down a large fee for a player approaching 30 with a lengthy injury record coming up to his last year in contract. Again just read between the lines of Hill Woods comments and they just scream to me that even if a deal isn’t in place Hill-Wood is positively encouraging suitors with that stance.

    3. Gazidis’ body language in the Q&A when this subject was broached. I just knew it then, the way he looked away from his questioner, it was a definite squirm and the eyes had it, he may be a consumate politician but I can tell when those fucks are lying too (their lips move boom!)

    4. Podolskis’ early capture and the likelihood of capturing Girou. Do we really think we are signing those two to complement RVP? Do we not know this board better by now? In a squad which is crying out for a playmaker, we are prioritising strikers. Again why? Because we don’t want to get left in the lurch again like last year getting caught with pants around ankles as the cule and sex op were whipped away from us.

This is obviously only my opinion but the obviousness of it all screams to me that RVP leaving is the only outcome of this.

I take it the author of this blog is about 12 years old and doesnt go to school? The amount of turgid knee jerk posts you spew out is testament to having too much time on your hands and an easily warped mind as you seem completely sucked in by all the tabloid media shit stirrers.

    • caribgooner says:

Come on Sid give him a break…he isnt the only one…am confused to

    • Sir Cecilia says:

He is just expressing an opinion and at least has the wherewithal to do it in his own blog which I suspect is more than you can manage.

  • naked goon says:

I reckon he should try and get another whole season under his AFC belt.If he can’t, then off you go pal.The club has shown great patience, belief and loyalty in him and it wouldn’t be a bad idea to show the same qualities to the club and fans. Stick around and help the club win something, at least you can say, “I did my best”

    • Sir Cecilia says:

He carried your club last season and if it hadn’t been for him you would have been no where near a Champions League place.

Uniteds plastic fans are pretty bad and very ignorant about football but so called Arsenal fans like you run them pretty close.

  • Kippax Lad says:

Interesting. Bobby Manc will coach him to be an even better player, as he does with all players who are receptive to his teachings. Don’t think NDJ will leave tho’ as he will have to take a pay cut and his chances of winning things will diminish. As for AJ…..meh.

  • nicky says:

Both Arsenal AND Van Persie already know fullwell whether they will part company this summer. If Van Persie wants to leave, then good luck to him. He’s had a great season with Arsenal, one that I don’t believe can be repeated wherever he ends up.
For the first time for many a year, we appear to be recruiting class and the future looks bright indeed

  • Kris Twaddle says:

The kept men of manchester, the bits of fluff on the arm of a rich businessman make me larf.

Arrogance personified, even tho any success is as hollow as most of their empty heads.

Talkin about obscene spending and wages when 5 minutes ago they would take the moral high ground over their successful neighbours, sayin they bought success.

    • the heel of law says:

twaddle is the right word !

    • Sir Cecilia says:

Arsenal and their like have been getting their way for years by buying up other clubs talent. The twaddle you come out with is laughable. Part owned by an American who probably doesn’t even know what shape ball the game is played with and a Russian who no doubt sees it a safe investment (particularly given Wengers love for the balance sheet as opposed to a team sheet).

7 trophy less years. Just ask Toure, Nasri and Clichy what they managed to win by moving from the Marie Celeste.

    • Kippax Lad says:

Ah yes, that hollow feeling I felt one month ago to this very day, so hollow in fact that I had tears streaming down my face and as I looked around me at my fellow Mancunians, I saw the same emotions on their faces too.

Oh how you Arsenal fans must wish to feel it. Your 7 year old kids will be asking….Daddy, why don’t we support a successful team like City?

  • Shafi says:

let just wait and see the outcomes after Euro.
