Could Juventus be his only option this summer?

Robin van Persie’s Arsenal future has been under the microscope for quite some time now.

The Dutchman’s outlook is far from certain and with his contract set to expire at the end of next season it is becoming a big worry for our club.

Manchester City are rumoured to be leading the chase for the 28-year-old’s signature.

But according to Robin’s father, Bob van Persie, the Dutch international will not be following in the footsteps of former Gunners Samir Nasri, Gael Clichy, Emmanuel Adebayor and Kolo Toure.

Van Persie senior was recently quoted in several papers saying:

‘It is impossible to go to another English team.’

Van Persie’s dad insists silverware will not be the only factor in his son’s final decision.

He went on to say:

‘Robin does everything necessary to win, but victory is not his only goal. Play to win, but not at any cost.’

A move to one of La Liga’s top clubs seems to be out of the question too for BVP:

‘Why the hell would he play at Barcelona or Real?

‘Barca already have Messi and it does not make sense to join them. Madrid are not a team, but a group of stars.’

Italian giants Juventus seem to be the only team who Bob had nothing against or spoke about.

Is Juventus the only club on the Dutchman’s mind, if he of course doesn’t renew his contract at Arsenal?

Well I think it is at the moment. No one else is rumoured to be interested in him and Bob has ruled out every club except the Turin one.

If Van Persie does leave Arsenal I will be glad that he won’t be going to Man City. They milk us for all our best talent and seeing the man who’s been with us since 2004 go there would be the last straw in my opinion.

Funny thing is you never really see players excited about going to play in Italy. It’s either Spain or everyone’s preferred choice England.

Let’s face it; Italian football isn’t the most exciting. Their best players come to the Premier League. Robin is better off staying with us and seeing what Arsene Wenger has planned for the future. With the right signings we can keep Robin happy and wanting to renew his contract.

I believe Van Persie is just playing his cards at the moment. I honestly believe he is waiting for Wenger to show signs of progression and once he does, Robin will definitely put pen to paper.

It would be a step down, especially with all the drama about the match fixing scandals, but it certainly seems like the most likely option.

‘Italian football isnt exciting! A few years back, it was the cream of the crop. All the leagues go through a bad patch. Where just coming out of ours! Van Persie would be wise to come over to Turin………….more prospect of silverware!
