Giroud is far more talented than Chamakh, says Auclair

|

French journalist Phillippe Auclair reckons Arsenal target Olivier Giroud is far more talented than Marouane Chamakh.

When asked by talkSPORT’s Hawskbee and Jacobs whether the Montpellier striker will be another Chamakh or a different quality, Auclair replied:

‘I think it’s a different quality.

‘He’s a major, major talent. Somebody who I believe is far more [talented] than Chamakh.’

Reports suggest Giroud is close to signing for the Gunners, as Arsene Wenger looks to strengthen his side ahead of the new season and, ultimately, keep hold of contract rebel and prized asset Robin van Persie.

Now I haven’t seen a lot of Giroud, but 21 goals in 36 Ligue 1 appearances last season for Montpellier is pretty impressive, needless to say the French striker had a much more productive and enjoyable campaign than our very own Chamakh, who only managed to find the net once last season!

I believe the 25-year-old would be a great signing for us and would certainly signal the end of Chamakh at Arsenal.

Hopefully, if we do acquire him after the Euros, Giroud won’t follow in the Moroccan’s footsteps!

I feel encouraged by the players that Arsenal are linked with this summer. Players who can definitely add to the quality of the squad, not cheap gambles.

Well it’s hard to tell if Giroud is better than the Marouane Chamakh we use to know at Bordeaux. Chamakh was on top of his game when RVP was injured and the second RVP was declared fit to play, Chamakh was relegated to the bench. Why? He came to Arsenal as a free agent. If they had paid lump sum for his services he would have been playing more regularly. Why would you bench Arsenal’s highest goal scorer who was a threat to many defense in the league just because another striker was declared fit( though he pumped in many goals)? what we thought was that he would partner both players upfront.
Should Wenger do the same with Giroud we are likely to see a repetition.
