Mel confirms interest in Arsenal forward

|

It’s been confirmed – Real Betis are interested in signing Arsenal forward Carlos Vela.

A few days ago the Spanish media suggested that the 23-year-old Mexican has no interest in returning to Arsenal after his impressive season-long loan with Real Sociedad expires this month.

And it seems Betis are keen to make the first move for the Mexico international at the end of the season, with boss Pepe Mel admitting:

‘We are interested in him, he knows this from last year.

‘But the news we have is that Arsenal wants to cash, wants to sell him, and so for a club of Betis’ finances it is complicated.’

After four loan spells and just 62 appearances for the Gunners, it does seem that Vela’s time at the north London club may perhaps be coming to an end in the summer, leaving many Arsenal fans divided on the issue.

If Arsene Wenger is not going to use Vela next season, which is highly doubtful after recently confirming the signing of Lukas Podolski from FC Koln, then the Frenchman should just look to sell the 5’10’’ forward to the highest bidder, thus reduce the wage bill ever so slightly.

As a great admirer of Vela, I would still hope a future at Arsenal is possible.
I would like to see a gentle weeding out of some of our striking force so as to allow players such as Vela to return…..with a reasonable chance of regular playing time. He just seems too good a player to lose.

his been great this season at socedad.

but his style of play is not for the PL.

he should fetch us a bit of money
i would not sell him unless we get something in the 5Million for him.

Not suited to PL glad its working for him in Spain its just a shame all those clubs are broke.

On his current form he is worth 8-10M I think
