‘99%’ of the Yann M’Vila summer deal to Arsenal is done, according to Le Parisen journalist Julien Laurens.

The French publication claims that the Gunners will sign the 21-year-old for a club record of £17.7 million on a four-year contract after turning down the opportunity to join Milanese giants Inter Milan.

Though the move hasn’t yet been officially finalised, on Monday, Laurens broke the news to his followers, saying:

‘Very busy yesterday working on M’Vila story. Deal 99% done. 22 million euros, 4 years. Great signing for Arsenal and player is delighted.’

He added:

‘At the moment deal is done with Arsenal finishing 3rd, could slightly change if not but he will still sign. He chose Arsenal over Inter Milan.

‘I believe he will be perfect signing for Arsenal. Norwich game showed how team was too exposed at the back. He will be proper holding mid.’

Should the deal go through, it will be Arsene Wenger’s and Arsenal’s second early summer signing, having acquired the services of Lukas Podolski from FC Koln early last week.

Undoubtedly it would be a great signing for the club, one that will strengthen and add depth to our side next season. In addition, it’s good to see Wenger seal some deals before the start of Euro 2012, as prices for players could potentially inflate.

Hopefully there will be more to come as the days roll by.

When he signs his name on the dotted line i’ll believe this transfer because he’ll be meeting up with the French squad and no doubt Nasri will inject some poison talk about Arsenal into his mind.Let’s hope the lad puts some good earplugs in so keep your fingers crossed fellow Gooners as we’ve been kicked in the teeth so many times ……Gooners forever!

What a total loser you are. Unlike you M’Vila is a grown up and can make his own mind up.

Alex Song has developed into a solid defensive midfielder in the Arsenal system, but injuries have forced him to play too much this season. The injuries have also forced him to push forward and take on a more offensive role, which has put an added burden on him and hurt him defensively.

Even if Wilshere and Arteta return at full strength next year, if Arsenal makes the Champions League, with Frimpong’s injury making him a question-mark, it would be very difficult for Song to handle the defensive midfield duties alone over the course of next year. Additionally, Song is likely to miss a part of next season for the African Nations Cup.

So, adding a solid defensive midfielder not only makes sense, it was a necessity for Arsenal in the summer transfer window. And all reports are that M’Villa, if not an upgrade over Song, is the kind of defensive midfielder that Wenger can plug into the starting lineup as a replacement for Song without worrying about there being any drop-off in play at the position. That will make Song and the Arsenal club as a whole better over the course of a long season in which Arsenal will be competing in four different competitions.

Signing M’Villa cannot be seen as anything other than a very good move by the Arsenal.

Further too my last email, I’ll believe it when he signs etc please read the blog on this site from The Evening Standard who cast doubt on this good news fellow Gooners. Read it and then form your own opinion.

@Goona: Remember last pre-season, when Evra claimed he spent the summer break convincing Nasri to move to Manchester? We should rather hope M’Vila won’t end up in ManU 😉

seriously?? why do you people believe the lies blogs and newspapers put out?? they only do this to get you mugs interested in their paper/website so they can make MONEY through advertising etc!!!
how many rumours do you hear every summer? yet they get one right out of literally thousands! and suddenly they know everything? and list the next 5 players arsenal will sign?? ever thought how many rumours they get wrong??
and thennnnnnn all you idiots who believe transfer rumours will then attack wenger and say how frustrating arsenal are because they didnt sign a player a newspaper or journalist told you that they will!! wtf?? if wenger came out and said YES we want m’vila and then he signs for chelsea/man citeh or whoever pays crazy monies for him then we can be angry and say why u get our hopes up??
will you lot ever learn?? try doing what i do…i hear a rumour then laugh, then laugh at everyone who believes it! last summer where were all the rumours about arsenal signing arteta? mertesacker? santos? gervinho? oh yeah they appeared hours before it happened! yet all summer they had u believing mata to arsenal was a 99% done deal! why are you so impatient? WAIT until and let the right people do their jobs behind the scenes without a journalists insight! and wake up one day and log on to arsenal.com and then if that website says we signed a a player then woohoo! nice! until then stop thinking club footy and start thinking euros!!! i dont care who arsenal sign, i will support and want the best for any player who dons the arsenal shirt (even squilaci!! lol)! if we can get everyone fit and with poldi!! we have an awesum squad!
WE DONT BUY SUPERSTARS, WE MAKE THEM!!! so much more satisfying then buying a big name! and anyways do we really need m’vila??? there are 3 midfield places…arteta! wilshere! song! rosicky! ramsey! diaby! frimpong! coquelin! maybe yossi! and as m’vila is a defensive minded player, which we only need one of and already have 3 (song, fimpong, coquelin) so why would be block frimpong and coquelin?

Like Goona say I will believe it when he signs and see him parading the new shirt! Us Gooners have had hope raised only for it to be a snatched – dash!
