Solbakken insists German international will be a Gunner next season

|

Former FC Koln manager Stale Solbakken has all but confirmed this morning that Lukas Podolski will be playing for Arsenal next season.

The 26-year-old was heavily linked with a move to the Gunners during the January window. But with Euro 2012 approaching and the potential chance of jeopardizing his chances with the German national side, the forward decided to stay with FC Koln at least until the end of the season.

However, a month later or so, reports in Germany claimed that the former Bayern Munich player has already signed a provisional agreement to join Arsene Wenger’s side in the summer for approximately £10.9 million.

When asked by Richard Keys, on ‘Keys and Gray’ on talkSPORT, where the German international will be playing his football next season, Solbakken, who parted company with the Bundesliga club last week, cheekily replied:

‘I think he will play in the same country as you are now.’

I for one will be amazed if he isn’t at The Emirates next season, hopefully alongside Robin van Persie upfront.
