Arsenal are chasing Varese youngster Acharaf Laazar, according to talkSPORT.

The 20-year-old is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in Italian football and has been dubbed the ‘new Gareth Bale’ by Varese sporting director Mauro Milanese.

The young Moroccan has been earning rave reviews for his displays for the Serie B side since being converted from a winger to a full-back.

Arsenal are not the only team said to be interested in Lazaar. Everton, along with several European clubs, including AC Milan and Real Mallorca, are also understood to be monitoring the youngster’s progress.

Lazaar’s agent, Ali Barat, was quoted as saying:

‘There’s been a lot of interest from plenty of clubs from around Europe.

‘He’s very similar to Gareth Bale in terms of his pace and athleticism.’

Barat went on to suggest that the Moroccan defender will, in the near future, become a big player in the Premier League:

‘I think he will be a big player in the Premier League very soon.’

Taking Barat’s words into account, even at this early stage, it appears the Gunners and Everton are clear favourites to land Laazar.

However, this could swiftly change if other top European clubs express their interest in the Moroccan youth star.

The Wenger plan is not working as we are not seeing the progress in all these wonderkids.

The record of late is start well, but spend to much time in treatment room.

  • John says:

    There’s only one Gareth Bale

  • Cjay says:

Doesn’t matter now. Arsenal’s ‘alleged’ interest has been announced. So City will by him!

  • Jack says:

who else is confused with the transfer window, i’ve found out we have been linked with 50,50 players!

  • hoofing says:

What another winger that forget’s his defensive duties!

  • terenggunner says:

John you’re spot on, there’s only one Gerath Bale. No one else, well maybe Ashley Young, who gets 10 out of 10 for diving.

  • Kola oba says:

Nobody can compete with wenger in terms of window shopping. All what he does is to raise our hopes of buying players in every summer, but at the end? Nothing! I dont believe in any transfer news until i see a red and white shirt displayed by a player. If rvp leaves arsenal this summer, i wont feel disappointed in him.

    • Mr Finch says:

Arsenal are watching approx 35 players at given time. Every decent club watches players. The fact that you believe every journalist who says they’re about to sign someone that they’re just watching is because you are stupid, not because Wenger says anything.

  • The BearMan says:

With the U16’s his record is pretty high, but when they reach 19 to 21 years old they are off in a shot!

    • Mr Finch says:

Because by that age Wenger knows if they’re going to make it Arsenal like Song, Fabregas, Gibbs, Szchezny in which case they stay and if they’re not good enough (Larsson, Bentley,Justin Hoyte etc) they get moved on. Whats wrong with that?

  • LADE says:

All, What Wenger does is to identify the talents just for other clubs to buy them cos he never does buy. We’ll see

    • Mr Finch says:

Clearly you are an idiot considering how many players Wenger has bought. The fact that you’re crying over a kid from a Spanish second division team who is nowhere near Gibbs ability is pretty pathetic.

  • Wolfgang says:

Yet another Afrcan born player is being linked with Wenger. So don’t be surprised he is signed. The point is he maybe cheap and ticks all boxesbut if the ANC comes,he will probably miss ten epl matches. When hecomes back he will be shagged.
SAF has few or no ANC bound players. If Arsenalgo missing in the next few seasons because of the ANC,Wenger should blame no one but himself.
Btw if Arsenal fail to clinch te cl berth,I think it’s time for Wenger to go. We needa pragmatic guy who plays football for soccer sake.
