Why he fully deserves this new proposed bumber deal

|

Not only has Song played as a break-up play midfielder with an eye for creating goals, he has deputized on several occasions in the centre-back role and has given a good account of himself in this position. Song also has a number of goals added to his resume for Arsenal. Though he has found the back of the net just once this season, he had five goals to the good last season, notably the opener against Chelsea at the Emirates, an 88th minute headed winner against West Ham, the 1000th Arsenal goal under Wenger against Bolton in a 4-1 win and the second in a 3-0 drubbing of Man City at the Eastland’s. Amongst many goals, he has scored since his debut goal against Liverpool in a 6-3 drubbing some years back.

You can say this Cameroon international is your complete midfielder. He is tenacious, aggressive, has good awareness, ball winning skills, an eye to supply, as well as a knack for scoring goals when in the position to do so. All these attributes Wenger has seen on display in this Cameroonian export and quite rightly so has set up the motion to tie him down to a much longer deal than his present contract stipulates.

With his current deal set to expire in 2014, it is only makes sense for Arsene to get Gazidis and co. to get this man to commit his future beyond the expiry date, as a repeat of the Nasri saga is not acceptable.

Nasri was handed the upper hand at the negotiation table as his contract had only one year to run and he had not been tied down longer, a scenario which meant we could have lost him on a free.

Similar to the Nasri situation is that of Van Persie, who has a year left to run on his current contract and has stalled on putting pen to paper, stating the mid-season is not a time to discuss contractual issues. These instances I believe have taught Wenger a thing or two and he’s not ready to take the same chances with his midfield enforcer as he is reported to have sanctioned a £20,000 pay rise for the former French U-16 player. This will take the slalom player’s wages to £75,000-a-week and make him one of our highest earners. This is sure to please the Song and with the present run of form and promise the club has shown in recent games, we expect him to put pen to paper and save us the heartache of losing one of our highly-rated and priced assets.

This move on the part of Wenger has yet again shown that the wily Frenchman has learnt from past errors and as the saying goes, ‘once beaten twice shy’, Arsene is really acting like a man who refuses to be beaten a second time by a past blunder.

Of course the question on everybody’s lips will be – does Song deserve this new bumper deal? Well I wouldn’t say much to answer the question as the review of the Gunner has said so much about his quality and competence. Not many will disagree with such a pay rise for one of our best players and considering the inflation rate and what mega-rich clubs are paying their players, I would say this man deserves every penny.

With this deal hopefully concluded soon, we hope to continually sing victoriously as we would continue to have a SONG in our team.

OTT love in for Song Now, Decent Player, having a good season Yes(THANKS IN NO SMALL PART TO ARTETA DOING A LOT OF THE SPADEWORK) Still makes too many silly fouls & majorly lacks concentration. He isnt the messiah, Not sure hes mentally a WINNER which is really important. Still better options available in my eyes.

Pay him £75,000 a week! that’s what I say.. Forget some of the negative comments; these guys do not understand footie in the modern era! Get rid of the dross and collectors’ items. Plenty of those on loan, those forever warming the benches, playing in the reserves year in year out and pay our main 22 what it takes to have a solid winning team!!!

    Thank you
