Well this piece of news will have many Gooners smiling from ear to ear, if they weren’t already!

Sao Paulo vice-president, Joao Paulo de Jesus Lopes, claims on-loan Arsenal midfielder Denilson (remember him?) is keen to extend his stay with the Brazilian club.

The 24-year-old returned to his former side on a season-long loan last summer after struggling to get game time in Arsene Wenger’s side, thus dropping down the pecking order at the north London club and being shipped out.

Many, including me, believe that the long-term future of Denilson lies away from The Emirates, this view is also shared by Paulo de Jesus Lopes, who would like for the Arsenal midfielder to remain at the Brazilian club as well.

He was quoted on ESPNsoccernet saying:

‘Our conversation was that we have every interest in continuing as we are. We want to renew at the end of the contract and he has said he wants too.

‘He [Denilson] will speak with his representatives who will contact the English club. There is no rush because he is here until the middle of the year.’

I actually forgot that Deni was still on our books, shows how much we miss him eh?

I truly hope Sao Paulo acquires him on a permanent deal rather than a temporary one, as I don’t see how this would benefit us in anyway.

He must be one of the players included in the reported Arsenal summer clearout, if not then there is something fishy going on, that’s for damn sure!!!
