Long-term Arsenal target and Udinese midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah could consider a move away from the Serie A club this summer ‘if something arrives’.

The 23-year-old was once linked with a move to the Gunners back in 2010, which was later confirmed by his agent Claudio Vagheggi, and the Ghanaian international also expressed his delight to hear that a club of Arsenal’s stature were eyeing him up.

Chelsea and Liverpool are also believed to be tracking down Asamoah, which has left the powerful midfielder contemplating his future at Udinese this summer:

‘I think only of Udinese.

‘The transfer market? I still have a long term contract.

‘If something arrives, I will think about it, but I do not want to just yet.’

Asamoah has made a total of 27 appearances for the Zebrette so far this season, netting just the one goal and assisting three.

Clearly the Ghanaian is not known for his goal-scoring and creative ability. In fact, since signing for Udinese back in 2008, Asamoah has only managed to rack up six goals and 10 assists in 117 appearances for the Italian side, not that impressive is it?

He is more known however for his physicality, positional play, passing and pace, all the attributes needed to play in the Premier League.

But after expressing the possibility of departing Udinese, should Arsene Wenger look to rekindle his interest in the tenacious midfielder this summer?

In my view, I don’t think we are in desperate need of midfielder like Asamoah. He is a good player, but we already have the likes of Alex Song, Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere, all of whom I think are technically better than the Udinese man.

If we are to buy a midfielder this summer then it must be one that packs creativity, as we have yet to fill the gap left by Cesc Fabregas.

Let’s see how this one pans out.
