The race to sign in-demand Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud this summer is heating up, according to the player’s agent.
The 25-year-old Frenchman has been in eye-catching form for Montpellier, netting 16 goals in 24 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit so far this season, and his performances have certainly not gone unnoticed, as several clubs around Europe are currently tracking him down.
His agent, Guillaume Sola, confirmed this earlier today:
‘The interest in Olivier comes from all four major European leagues: the Spanish, the German, English and Italian. Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique Marseille and Lyon also follow him – and one of these three represents a track much hotter than others.’
However, Giroud has recently admitted an ambition to play for Arsenal, which, I feel, places the Gunners as hot favourites to sign the France international should he choose to depart Montpellier in the summer.
Having read Giroud’s admiration for our club earlier this week and stating that the Premier League is the best in the world, I can only see him joining us. We likes that ‘French feel’ about our club and what better man to manage and hone his talent further than Arsene Wenger.
Depending on which teams in Spain, Germany and Italy are actually interested in him, I expect to see Giroud in an Arsenal shirt very soon.
