Bierhoff urges German star to join Gunners

|

Former Germany international Oliver Bierhoff reckons a summer move to Arsenal would be perfect for Lukas Podolski, who was reportedly a target for the Gunners in January.

FC Koln coach Stale Solbakken has already admitted that the 26-year-old, who has netted 15 goals in 18 Bundesliga games so far this season, could leave The Billy Goats in the summer and will not stand in his way should he choose to do so.

And Bierhoff, who currently works in the public relations sector with the German national team, feels a move away from FC Koln for Podolski has come at the right time and also claims Arsene Wenger is the right man to improve the forward’s game

Goal.com claims the 43-year-old former Milan striker told German publication Express.de:

‘The heart of Podolski belongs to Cologne. But he’s now at an age, where he has to think about his future.

He finished off by saying:

‘For Podolski it [Arsenal] would be a good place [to play], because Arsene Wenger is an outstanding coach, who could bring Lukas to a next level.’

In my opinion, Podo certainly deserves to ply and test his ability at a more reputable club than FC Koln.

I believe Arsenal would be an ideal destination for the German as he would suit our style of play, as well as excel under the management of Arsene Wenger. The Frenchman is thoroughly renowned for nurturing young talent into superstars, but Podolski is already 26, has bags of experience and has been capped 95 times for Germany.

However, Wenger could still bring out the best in him and enhance his talent even further, and playing with better players around him, as well as new training regimes and exercises, should facilitate his ability to the max.

Hopefully we manage to snap him up in the summer as I am a huge fan of his and he would be a great asset to have on our team. In addition, his potential inclusion into the squad could sway the uncertain Robin van Persie to sign a new deal at the club.

Any striker with some clout n BiG reputation, by playing for Arsenal and cannot score on average 20 goals per season is not worth mentioning.

Arsenal puts it on a plate for strikers, it should be light work for someone with much quality.
