Our destiny is in our own hands

|

As February crept in, Arsenal struggled to find form with a draw against Bolton and a resounding victory against Blackburn was more like a flash in the pan as Sunderland, on their carpet-bombed turf, proved a hard nut to crack, but we scaled them with a win at the death off the boot of Thierry Henry. This was immediately followed by a severe pounding at the San Siro and a further loss in the FA Cup did not do anything to suggest that the Gunners might have or be turning the corner. We signed off on February with a win against Spurs, then came March and wins against Liverpool, Milan, Newcastle, Everton and now Aston Villa have seen us leapfrog the Spuds and distance ourselves from Chelsea in the race for fourth, which now sounds more like the race for third for Arsenal.

A 100% win record in March has restored the much needed confidence in the boys and we have seen them play with the killer instinct and swagger Wenger’s charges have been known for. I could say beating Spurs in February has handed us our form of good fortune, not to say the boys have not been fantastic in their play and attitude on and especially off the ball while handing the Spuds back their jinx, as we have seen them falter since then, losing and drawing at will while we maintained an unbeaten run in March.

This recent run of games has seen us shoot up to 3rd with our destiny in our hands and with our closest rivals holding each other to a stalemate at the bridge, we have now stretched our lead on Chelsea to eight points as we trounced Villa at the Grove and sit three points atop of the Spuds. Since our classless neighbours and big-spending juniors from N7 and SW6 have shown how incompetent and sloppy they are, we are now in a position to consolidate further our superiority and position as the best in London, while hoping to improve and become the best in the land for a lengthy while.

Anyways, we need to focus on our games and keep our noses in front and not bother what our London rivals do in their subsequent games.

With the return of our full-backs, their back ups, our midfielders and their deputies, as well as the rediscovery of form of Tomas Rosicky playing alongside a goal hungry Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott in devastating form, Arsenal seem unstoppable at present. In addition, with this positive momentum with us until the end of the season, we might be coasting home to join the Manchester clubs in Europe next season.

If things go our way we could even nick second position from Manchester City! 12 points is not a massive gap to close and the way they and we are playing currently it can happen.

To sum up, our destiny is in our own hands. We look set for a 3rd place finish which is good considering our start to the season. However, we should be doing better than this considering our club is championship material.

I think we will beat Man City when they come to Emirates, and Chelsea too….why not win the rest and beat out City for second, as it appears that SAF has the upper hand? Why not the Gunners?

I have a sneaky feeling that we will nip man city for second
