Can the potential signing of this man fire Arsenal to the title next season?

|

Well it is another trophyless season, but a very entertaining one nonetheless for Arsenal.

After what the team has shown this campaign it’s evidently clear that we can achieve great success in the near future and with a few new additions, going without a trophy next season will surely not ensue.

Arsene Wenger believes adding a few more players to the squad will surely give us the push we need to win titles.

One player he believes could have a major impact is German international Lukas Podolski. We’ve seen what our current crop can do when they come up against the best, just imagine what we can do if we tweak our line-up this summer.

Wenger recently said:

‘I just felt we had two weak periods in the season and you can only afford one.

‘I knew when we were 17th (in August) that we cannot afford any weak periods anymore, so when that happened in January it was very difficult.’

‘If you look at the circumstances of the (second) blip it was down to the fact we had no full backs.

‘Overall since October, since the team has gelled, we are not on too bad a run.

‘Yes (we want Podolski), because we want to add some offensive strikers, because many times people say we rely too much on Van Persie, which is true, but if we can find world-class players, we will (challenge for the title).’

Clearly this is the news we all have been waiting to hear – experienced players coming into the squad and, in my opinion, Podolski would be a fantastic signing for the club which could potentially fire us to the title.

But a few more, perhaps two or three of his kind, would get us the silverware we so desperately seek and, more importantly, let goal crazy Robin van Persie take a rest from time to time. We have relied greatly on his goals this season, this cannot be denied. But then again he’s a striker and scoring goals is what he is paid to do.

For now I think we should solely concentrate on finishing third and worry about who comes and goes when the transfer window opens. Though I strongly believe we will not go empty handed next season, if Podolski and two more world-class players join the side at the end of the season.

If we lose out on Gotze then wenger should go for Eden Hazard. Get vertogen and M’villa and we are done.
