Bolton’s Gretar Steinsson firmly believes on-loan Arsenal youngster Ryo Miyaichi will become of the best players in the Premier League.

The Japan international joined Owen Coyle’s Bolton on loan in January until the end of the season and has hit the ground running at the Reebok since his move.

Despite Miyaichi making just four appearances for the Trotters so far this season, contributing one assist, Steinsson reckons the 19-year-old is in the same category of that of Jack Wilshere and Daniel Sturridge, who both spent time on loan at Bolton in recent seasons before retuning to their respective club and are now first-team regulars.

The 30-year-old Iceland international told talkSPORT’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast:

‘Miyaichi is a fantastic player.’

‘I saw him play a few times for Feyenoord last year and knew he had bags of potential. But training with him every day, I would put him in the same category as Jack Wilshere and Daniel Sturridge. He has got a bright future. He will be one of the Premier League’s big players in the future.’

Steinsson added:

‘He is a top boy. In training we have got big, strong physical players and he just gets on with it. He has got real ability, he is so fast and he will definitely be one of the big players. All the Arsenal players have been raving about him and I know why.’

Undoubtedly Miyaichi has the raw talent, as well as the technical ability, to make it big at Arsenal. He is certainly one to watch out for in the future.

However, I do worry if we sign Mario Gotze or Lukas Podolski, as this could hinder Ryo’s chances in the first-team. Hopefully it doesn’t. Hopefully if Podolski or Gotze are signed in the summer they will help him develop his game further and drive the young winger to succeed more.

A talent like Miyaichi must be nurtured properly, and I see no better person in the world to do this than our very own Arsene Wenger.

Hopefully Steinsson’s premonition comes to fruition!
