Jan Vertonghen would love to join Arsenal, if Ajax can agree a deal with the Gunners this summer, according to The Sun.
The 24-year-old centre-back has only one year left to run on his existing deal at the Amsterdam Arena and the Eredivisie outfit are expected to offload the Belgian if a fee of around £10 million can be reached.
Arsenal have been linked with a move Vertonghen in the past and still remain keen, with Tottenham and Newcastle also said to be interested in his services.
But it seems Vertonghen, who is primarily a centre-back but can also be utilized as a defensive midfielder if needed, has set his sights on a summer move to The Emirates.
The Belgian was quoted in The Sun saying:
‘Arsenal are a magnificent club. If a club of their calibre can reach agreement with Ajax then I will gladly go over.
‘I have instructed my agent carefully. He knows which clubs I want to join and Arsenal are one of them.
‘I haven’t signed anything with them yet but I went to watch them against Milan, together with my Ajax team-mate Siem de Jong.’
Vertonghen has been at Ajax since 2003 at youth level and broke through the senior ranks in 2006.
Since 2006, the Belgian centre-back has made well over 200 appearances for the Dutch club, scoring 24 goals in the process.

Nice but dream on. I think we get Vert in and maybe one other. That is it. No chance of Gotze this summer he is staying one more year, Hazard doubtful, M’Vila why Song, the Coc,.
We will see but I think we Get Vert and two “Gems” thats it. I do not think we need much more.
I also thinks Parks military service is huge. I hope he stays Cham goes. Cambell will also qualify for a WP this summer through senior caps. That plus the GEMS and we are good.

I do not know guys. Vert seems keen. He is versatile. BFG just had his 2nd ankle reconstruct so…. Sell the Squid or give him away bring this guy in. Team would NOT be short of leaders.
Would be a very good signing for around £10m, but I could see him moving to another club that offers him the guarantee of a place in the starting XI. Can’t see him replacing Koscielny or Song with the form they’ve been in. If he’s happy fighting for his place, though, he’d be an excellent addition to the squad.
I also can’t see us getting Gotze this year, but feel Hazard is a possibility, even if we do finalise the Podolski signing.

his a great player, i think we is the kind of player we need.
we only have song as a defensive midfielder at the moment.
frimpong and coqual are both great but they need time we need to stop putting alot of pressure on young players.
i say we sell both dojour and squillaci.
Looking back over the past seasons, I have never seen Wenger buying a player begging to join Arsenal.
Nasri, Not buying exactly but The Sham I mean Cham. Theo, Henry part Duex, the OX, BFG, but probably no others.
we have many good players what we need now is a player of cecs claiber some one who can ignite the spark when things are not going our way.
for me Hazard is that guy.
Vertonghen and Hazard would mean an excellent summer. i dont think we are short in the CAM role.
the 2 best players for that role are Rosicky and Arshavin(he will be back from his loan spell).
