Why this Arsenal youngster should look to go out on loan

Oguzhan Ozyakup says he is hungry for first-team football after being apart of Arsenal’s Champions League squad earlier in the season.

The 19-year-old midfielder has only managed to make just two cameo appearances – both of which came in the Carling Cup – for the Gunners since joining the club from AZ Alkmaar in 2009.

However, despite his limited opportunities in the first-team set-up, Ozyakup has been a regular for Neil Banfield’s Reserves, and the Turkey Under-21 international says he may look to seal a loan move away from The Emirates in order to further his footballing education:

He told the club’s official website:

‘It was absolutely fantastic in Greece: the atmosphere was perfect, the fans were crazy.

‘If you smell it, you want more and more and more. Once you have been there you want it every time.’

He went onto to speak about his development at Arsenal and insists things are going well. He then suggested a loan move to a club which is similar in style to Arsenal would be good for him:

‘I am really happy with the way things are progressing at Arsenal. I have been involved with the first team a few times, training with them too, and things are good.

‘Hopefully I might go out on loan if there is a good club that plays a similar style to Arsenal, but if not then I will continue with the Reserves and just try to play good games and do my best.’

I like the look of this lad and believe he has a bright future ahead of him at Arsenal. He possesses good technical ability and skill, and his passing distribution is precise. He reminds me a little of Cesc Fabregas.

I would like to see him leave on loan to gain first-team experience rather than him stay put and develop his talent in the Reserves, as there is only so much you can learn at this level.

Henri Lansbury, Craig Eastmond, Chuks Aneke and Ryo Miyaichi all are out on loan and playing regular first-team football with clubs around the country. All of them should return back to Arsenal better than when they first left.

Hopefully Ozyakup gets his chance soon and seals a loan deal away from The Emirates in order to gain vital first-team experience and to hone his talent further.

  • He is much better than ramsey

good player Ozyakup, but truth is he won’t make it Arsenal.
Pretty farcical for the last comment to say he’s better than Ramsey. He isn’t, no-where near. And Lansbury is a far better prospect than Ozyakup too but he will struggle too to break in, so there really will be no way into the side for Ozyakup – especially next season when Wenger will buy big in midfield – and if we have a new manager, will buy even bigger.

Ozyakup can have a good career, but it will never be at a Top 5 club.

Jack is right. Can’t believe I’m saying this but… Thierry Henry , ur a mug

@JackFact : you have no idea who you are talking about. Have you watched this kid play? You probably haven’t .

This guy is brilliant and will make it Arsenal. He is knocking on the first team door. Even out captain RVP says he will be a star. IMO he is better than Ramsey. His passing is precise and he is very creative. Him and Benayoun ripped the midfield against Norwich.

Watch out for Eisfeld as well. Very good prospect.

Some of these mug fans are clueless yet they give their expert opinion. Ozyakup is highly rated and Wenger personally intervened when he was not willing to extend his contract. You can imagine why Arsenal did everything they could to stop this player from leaving. He’s got exceptional abilties with great technical quality. THe coaching staff say he’s like Fab. They obviously knw better than you and me.
