Schalke youngster Julian Draxler revealed his happiness after reading rumours suggesting Arsenal are interested in him.
The Gunners have been linked with the 18-year-old German midfielder in the past and having heard that they are reportedly in for him again, Draxler is nothing short of pleased.
He was quoted in German newspaper Sport-Bild saying:
‘I’ve read that Arsenal have interest in me. That made me very happy.’
If indeed Arsenal are thinking of making a move for him this month or in the next transfer window, then they will have to fend off Italian giants Inter Milan, who also appear keen on the youngster:
‘My agent informed me that Inter have shown interest. It’s a great feeling and new for me. I am tremendously honoured by such a thing.’
The Metro recently claimed that Draxler could be seen as a potential replacement for Arsenal’s disgruntled forward Andrey Arshavin, and this, in my opinion, could only realistically occur in the summer, as I don’t think Wenger will make a move for him – or anyone for that matter – in the next 4 days.
The right-footed, attacking left winger has made 17 appearances (9 starts) for Schalke so far this season, where he has contributed 3 assists and 1 goal.
