Although he has left for the African Cup of Nations, Gervinho has told Arsenal that he does not want captain Robin van Perise to be sold.

The Ivory Coast international told the Daily Mail:

‘I don’t want the sale of Robin van Persie.’

It appears the 24-year-old forward loves playing alongside the Dutchman and doesn’t want to see Van Persie, who has 18 months left to run on his current contract, leave the club.

Gervinho went on to say that Van Perise has a great influence on the players and is a dream to play with upfront:

‘Robin is a player who pushes companions to work harder and give more effort during matches. He is a dream to play with.

‘Van Persie is the captain and the boss of the group.’

Hopefully with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry back at the club, Arsene Wenger can use former Arsenal captain to convince Robin van Persie to stay and sign a new long-term deal at the north London club.
