Arsenal are ready to make a shock move for out-of-favour Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou, according talkSPORT.

The 26-year-old Ivorian is out of contract at the end of the season and, with Andre Villas-Boas’ blessing, is ready to speak to interested clubs.

Kalou has only managed to start four games for Chelsea this season under AVB and looks set to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer.

This has alerted the attention of Arsene Wenger, who is looking to add to his striking options despite bringing back Arsenal legend Thierry Henry on loan.

It is understood that Wenger will offload either Marouane Chamakh, who seems to have lost his way since the return of Robin van Persie last January, or Andrey Arshavin, who has become more and more ineffective as the years have rolled by since his big money move from Zenit in 2009.

Wenger, who has been linked with Kalou in the past, is thought to have made an enquiry about a proposed move this month, with the Frenchman readying a £3 million bid to land him.

However, Kalou’s reported £90,000-a-week wages could prove to be a problem for the Frenchman, and will have to fight off interest from Italian outfit Juventus if he wants to acquire the Ivory Coast international.

A very good player whom whenever called upon has delivered. Furthermore at that price and at his age you cannot go wrong so makes perfect sense to me. A versatile player with premiership and Champions League experience is exactly what we need in my opinion.

At £3mil for an experienced premiership player it’s a bargain. I wonder how much will he be asking for his wages. Arsenal surely won’t pay him £90k weekly. Only RvP is at this level currently which the ceiling salary scale at Arsenal.

This guy has a good scoring record at Chelsea which is far superior to that of Torres.
This is a no brainer at 3 million could even be sold on in the summer if we secure Poldolski
Not sure if he has played in the champions league yet.

With 50 mill in the bank. Why not buy Ba or Podolski. This club is going backwards, Wenger has no ambition, if he says it’s OK that we haven’t won any trophies what does that say to the players.? That we’re a bunch of ‘also rans’? Pathetic.

A player who’s scored goals for 4 months after moving from a relegated team and a guy who totally bottled it last time he played for a big club, Bayern Munich. Ok Podolski has played well for Germany but he’s not really a winger and he’s not gonna settle for being a backup striker. Kalou is more suited to Arsenals’ style of play and is used to being a supersub for a top Premiership club. I agree that it’d be nice to see that money spent but not on those two. Arsenal have the best striker in the league, it’s a star winger that should be bought with the money, such as Eden Hazard.
