Why Arsenal should consider re-signing this former Gunner?

|

With rumours beginning to pop-up that Song is considering a move away from the Emirates, Flamini would be a perfect replacement for the Cameroon international, considering the fact he’s suited to our style of play. But if Song isn’t leaving, Flamini would find it very difficult to cement a first-team place at Arsenal and might become even more frustrated.

Is the player affordable for The Gunners to look at?

If the Arsenal board can agree talks with him, then we would be getting a player, who would most probably cost £10-15 million if his contract duration was longer, for nothing. One potential problem is Flamini would demand wages of around €100,000-a-week.

Has Flamini still got the drive and talent?

One can be pretty certain that the 2005/06 season was the first big step in the career of Flamini. But it was in the 2007/08 season when Flamini rose to the occasion and consistently kept Gilberto and Diaby out of the team. He formed an admirable partnership with Fabregas in that season and made 40 appearances for The Gunners.

In the following three years with Milan, he never passed the 40-game mark, and it will be impossible for him to hit this year, as he will return from injury in February. This clearly says that playing opportunities have been hard to come by, but when called upon, he has performed very well for the Milanese giants.

Flamini has still got it him to be one of the most effective midfielders in Europe.

As an Arsenal fan, I would like to see Flamini don the red and white shirt of Arsenal again, keeping in mind the technical ability of the player as well as the fact that he won’t need time to adapt, as he spent his formative years in England.
