Why a winter loan move for this Arsenal starlet should be reassessed

Ryo Miyaichi was supposed to break into the first-team this season following an impressive loan spell at Feyenoord last season. However, ever since his return from Holland, Ryo has only made two substitute appearances for Arsenal in the Carling Cup, with Wenger strongly hinting that the young Japanese star will be allowed to leave the Emirates on loan in January.

Wenger admits the 19-year-old needs to play regularly in order to continue his development, but has yet to decide what he will do with him:

‘Nothing has been decided with him.

‘He needs to play now, I’ll sit down with him and see what we’ll do.

‘He has been injured for a while and we’ll see in January.’

With Gervinho leaving for the African Cup of Nation in January, and Andrey Arshavin possibly on his way out of the Emirates as well as would it be wise for Wenger to keep hold of Miyaichi? In my opinion, I think Wenger should keep Ryo put, rather than let him go out on loan. We’ve seen the videos, and we’ve read the reviews, time for Miyaichi to make a stamp on the Premier League.

Miyaichi has done nothing but impress as a footballer since signing for Arsenal. Yes he’s young, but so were Fabregas, Wilshere and Ramsey, and look where they are now. Our squad is already stretched as it is, and letting another player leave on loan wouldn’t be a wise decision, unless Wenger plans on buying players in January of course. Other than that I see no reason to let the young Japanese winger go out on loan. If Wenger wants him to develop, let him do it at Arsenal.

Much like Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ryo has great potential, and I’m sure he’ll bring back the spark that Arsenal had when Arshavin was in form. All the starlet needs is some game time and that window of opportunity could be just around the corner.
