Inter Milan will test Arsenal’s resolve by tabling a bid for Robin van Persie when the January transfer window opens, according to talkSPORT.com.

The Dutch striker has just 18 months left to run on his current contract at the Emirates which, combined with his scintillating form and 11 goals in 11 Premier League games for the Gunners so far this season, has put all the world’s top club on red alert.

New Inter Milan boss Claudio Ranieri is thought to be monitoring the Arsenal captain’s situation very closely, as the Italian is yet to be convinced by his current strike-force that he inherited from Gian Piero Gasperini just 2 months ago. Furthermore, it is believed that Inter duo Diego Forlan and Mauro Zarate will likely be given the boot in the New Year, so the addition of a striker looks a necessity for the Serie A club in January.

Diego Milito is the only striker likely to retain his place in Ranieri’s plans, after being the only forward in the squad to have netted more than one league goal for Inter so far this season. However, the Argentine will need a new man alongside him after Christmas and Ranieri sees Van Persie as the ideal candidate for the job.

Bayern Munich, Juventus, Real Madrid and A.C Milan are also all reportedly interested in the Dutch striker.

Though I do believe a bid of around £30-40 million would be tempting, in my opinion, I truly believe any club looking to offer RVP an ‘escape route’ out of the Emirates this winter will be purely wasting their time, as the striker previously stated that he will wait to see what happens at the end of the current season before deciding his long-term future.
