Serie A side Fiorentina have joined the race to sign out-of-favour Arsenal forward Andrey Arshavin, according to reports in Italy.

The 30-year-old Russian, who is also reportedly being chased by Schalke and Anzhi, has found first-team opportunities at the Emirates hard to come by, with Arsene Wenger continuing to put his faith in Theo Walcott and Gervinho in the wide positions.

Earlier this month Arshavin told Sport Express of his disappointment at becoming a bench warmer at Arsenal, claiming he may have to consider his future come January:

‘Right now I don’t think about changing clubs. If I will be benched for a very long time, then such an issue might be relevant.

‘I still want to play for 90 minutes, but now I am glued to the bench.’

With news of Arshavin contemplating his future, Italian newspaper La Nazione now claim Fiorentina are plotting a sizeable offer for the Russian when the January window opens.
