Russian fat-cats Anzhi Makhachkala have targeted Arsene Wenger as a potential candidate for the vacant hot-seat at the Russian club, according to Sport-Express newspaper.

Arsene Wenger has been with The Gunners since 1996, where he’s lead the north London club to 3 Premier League titles and 4 FA Cups. However, rumours have surfaced about the Frenchman’s future at Arsenal recently, claiming the 62-year-old could depart the Emirates if no silverware is won at the end of the season. Despite Wenger saying he is committed to Arsenal, many still believe he will consider his options at the end of May.

Anzhi, owned by billionaire Suleyman Kerimov and currently being managed by both Andrey Gordeev and Brazilian legend Roberto Carlos as interim coaches, have also named Marseille’s Didier Deschamps as a possible suitor.

Former Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink is also in the run-in and is believed to be considering the Russian clubs offer.

good news……i cant see us winning anything this season. We have a good team…but not good enough. MAN CITY, MAN UTD AND UNFORTUNATELY THE SPUDS ARE BETTER PLACED FOR SILVERWARE.
So hopefully wenger will go and we can build again with the basis of a very good team with a manager that will add real quality to the squad..not cheapo stop-gap players.

I’m sorry have you not noticed how well were playing? Must be all the “cheapo stop-gap players” we purchased. Go support spuds you yid!

Our wonderful play is all around RVP and if he leaves then we can turn the lights out. The truth hurts doesn’t it, but greenius is right, the Spuds are better placed for silverware this season, because they have a stronger squad and are playing better football. But, if you are happy in your dream world, then dream on pal. You might even dream of us winning something.

I do not feel we could do better than Arsene Wenger as Manager. But what may need to change is Board policy on the availability of funds, coupled with a rethink on the pursuance of youth as the basis of the Club’s future. The latter has still to prove its worth and we are gradually getting left behind by our rivals, both in the transfer market, as well as the certainty of retaining players.
The dream of self-sustainability is all very well, but only if all Clubs participate. Otherwise we may have to join in the free for all, backed by one or both of our overseas investors, in order to advance our cause. Not a pretty picture for many, but do we have much of
    a choice?
