Arsene Wenger has stated that he would love to manage Arsenal for another 15 years, and has admitted he wants to make the Emirates outfit the best club in the world.
The French coach celebrated 15 years in charge at the North London club yesterday, and despite an inconsistent start to the 2011/12 campaign, is eyeing future glory.
He recently told The Telegraph:
‘I am up for it, but it depends first of all on my club. Do they want me to stay? Then it depends on my health. I had a vision and I still have one. It is to make this the best club in the world. Simple as that.’
Gunners fans may have been wavering over their support of Wenger after early season defeats against Liverpool, Manchester United and Blackburn, and will travel to White Hart Lane to take on Tottenham tomorrow as underdogs.
Arsenal’s problems have stemmed from the summer sales of Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy, and reports in the press have linked Manchester City with a move for Robin van Persie in Janaury.
Wenger however has rubbished the rumours, stating the Netherlands international will not be leaving the Emirates.
‘Robin is under contract until 2013. Why should we sell players in January? City already have problems because they have too many strikers, they pay half of the league for them to play away somewhere. Why should they want to buy strikers.’
