Fiorentina have announced that they are ready to listen to offers for Juan Manuel Vargas in January and are looking for a fee of £12 million from interested clubs.

Arsenal were reportedly interested in Vargas during the summer, but opted to sign Andre Santos from Fenerbache after Fiorentina decided they were not prepared to negotiate on the price.

However, Arsenal may be interested in a second stab at the player because they will be losing Gervinho in January due to the African Cup of Nations and Vargas will be able to play at left-back or fill in on the left wing.

I think Arsenal need to go into January and finish what they started in the summer transfer market, this time however, we need to be in fast. Arsenal fans face a difficult 12 weeks ahead, which will mark the half way point through the season, as well as the closure of the January transfer window.

If Fiorentina are ready to accept a £12 million bid in January, then somehow we need stump up the cash and sign him as well as other targets.

Although Vargas has struggled with form this season, a possible change in location and coming into an Arsenal side, where he could improve drastically in terms of technical ability and movement, could be an ideal destination for the 28-year-old Peru international this winter.
