A wide or central role for this Arsenal youngster?

|

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain recently revealed that Gunners team-mate Theo Walcott helped him settle in at Arsenal easily, but has also revealed that he can never be as quick as his fellow-Southampton academy product.

When Walcott made his move from Southampton to north London he was two years younger than AOC, and it requires no explanation as to how much media attention Walcott gathered, even before playing a single Premier League game.

AOC, who recently bagged a hat-trick for England’s Under-21 squad, said of Theo:

‘To start off with Theo helped me out a lot, but everyone has helped me especially the manager and coaches.’

He then went on to comment about his colleague’s pace:

‘I have never raced him but I think he’s quicker than me even though I hate to admit it.’

Arsene Wenger recently used AOC on the right wing against Shrewsbury & Olympiakos. However, many Arsenal are raising the question whether the youngster should be played on the wings or through the centre.

AOC recently asked himself the very same question:

‘Do I prefer playing right wing or central midfield? I like playing in both positions but have found most of my recent success on the wing, but can also see myself playing more central.’

A section of Gooners would like to see him in the ‘hole’, as his passing ability is very good and he is never afraid to take a long-range shot. His goal against the Shrews was particularly a peach of a goal, as fans have not seen a goal like that in a while.

Many fans feel that Alex should be given a run through the centre in the Carling Cup games and if he is able to produce couple of key passes and assists, then that should be his position in the future.

central eventually. our central mids are so one dimensional besides wilshere. he would add more unpredictability and directness that we often miss in the center.

one thing i hate about our midfielders is that their passes are too too pridictable maybe except wilshere. As a midfielder myself i hate to give such passes
