Can this Arsenal star become the next David Seaman?

Wojciech Szczesny says it’s his ambition to become the next David Seaman and write himself into Arsenal folklore even though he feels he hasn’t achieved anything yet at the club.

Arsenal has been through a variety of goalkeepers since David Seaman’s departure in 2003 – Jens Lehmann clearly being the only one able to replace the imposing former England international with any permanence.

But Szczesny, 21, said it’s in his hands to take up the mantle from Seaman and intends to do it, even though he still has his sights set on continuing his development and gaining more experience.

Szczesny told talkSPORT.com:

‘I feel I have the support of the fans, the support of my team mates and my manager so it’s all in my hands.’

‘I’m doing my best for the team, if I can build up my reputation then that is very good.’

In my opinion, he does have the support of the fans, manager and his fellow players – at this point in time he can do no wrong.

He went on to say:

‘I’m just focussed on doing my job but there is still a lot of room for improvement.’

‘I am confident I can make it at arsenal, because I don’t think I have yet but I’m just going to keep working hard and keep doing my best and if I can be the next David seaman as the fans are expecting then I will be very happy.’

Szczesny has a long way to go before he can match Seaman in terms of experience and in ability, but the good thing is he is definitely on the right track to accomplishing that task. In my opinion, if the Pole keeps it up then he may reach higher heights than the former England international as he is clearly determined to do so and that is the first step to success.

Szczesny has more than a decade to make his mark at Arsenal as he is still young, and who knows, he may spend his entire career at the north London club.

Have you even seen szeznys decision making lately?

This guysefforst lately have beend readful, yes he makes a good save eevry now and then, but seriusoly he has major major decision making flaws.

if not for sunderlands woeful finishing on sunday we could and should have lost.

His coming out of the area and thesunderplayer just totaly going aroud him, shows his another aluminia.

  • Szczesny just need to grow his ponytail to be our seamen as he already got the talent

ok shot stopper but terrible positioning, he gets done nearly every game, if he wasnt playing with and for the most deluded bunch of mugs around he would have been dropped by now, if he does turn out any good hell be off to a big club, not this gypsy feeder club, wankers

you cant fault szczesny when the players arent defending as a team. do you remember seaman having to make the amount of saves that szczesny does? hes only 20 and has a LONG time to be where seaman is, but he will get there 🙂

    he could become even better

what we have seen form him is world classss
the amount of saves his making is shocking
about evry games his making one on one saves.

am sure he will become on of the best in the world and at the age of 21 looks like we have solved our GK problmes for the next 15 years.
