Arsenal are so determined to keep hold of their captain Robin van Persie by offering the Dutchman a new four-year contract worth up to £90,000-a-week, according to The Daily Express.

The 28-year-old current contract expires in June 2013, but has yet to agree new terms with the Gunners which have set alarm bells ringing around the Emirates.

It is believed that Arsenal’s chief executive Ivan Gazidis has instructed his colleague Richard Law to begin negotiations with the Dutchman about a new deal. Law has also been told to discuss contracts with other players in the same predicament – such as Thomas Vermaelen, Theo Walcott and Andrey Arshavin – in order to prevent them from being sold for a low fee or even leaving on a Bosman free.

However, Robin Van Persie recently admitted that he would only speak about his future at Arsenal next summer, which leaves the club, manager and fans pondering what he will decide to do…only time will tell.

Arsenal need to look up the word BIG in the english dictionary, and they will find BIG at AFC is not as BIG as it is at many other football clubs RVP could end up playing for, wake up and smell the coffee, pay him what he,s worth and he will stay.

lets offer him 90,000 a week when city will happily double or get close to doubling it. sounds like a great idea… NOT. it needs to be more otherwise we will continue to be a feeder club..

When I trialled on the left wing at Fulham in the 1950`s the bloke on my inside was the first player to be on one thousand pounds a week, he was also captain of England. Now we talk of giving a player 150,000 pounds a week just to keep him…..I`m speechless.
