Time for this young Arsenal defender to go out on loan?

Ignasi Miquel is reportedly a loan target for League two’s Crewe.

The 18-year-old made just two F.A cup appearances for the Gunners last season and one substitute appearance in the Premier League already this season.

The Arsenal reserve captain has flourished in the club’s youth system since joining the club as a 16-year-old. He has represented Spain at U19 level and is said to have a great future ahead of him, as he possesses great technical ability, as well as a commanding influence on the team.

However, he does remind me of Harvard Nordveit – another young centre-back tipped for a great future, but never lived up to the expectation, and after 3 seasons of going on loan to different European clubs, Nordveit was offloaded to Borussia Monchengladbach in December 2010 – which could happen to Miquel as time goes by.

I believe we need to send Ignasi out on loan, but not to a club of Crewe’s stature.

The young Spaniard needs to acquire first-team experience in England, either in the Premier league or in the Championship, but sending him on loan to a league two outfit will not help his cause whatsoever.

Why loan? I believe this guy need to start understudying Vermelen and he can also feature in some matchs such as carling cup. I dont even think he should be loaned to any team. I think we must start think well about loaning out players. Look at Lansbury who is in the last year of his contract now on loan to West Ham. I hope theyve offered him a new contract. He should have remain at the club as a cover.

solomn is very right .This player is far much better than poor DJOROU JOHAN,SIQUILLACHI AND THEREFORE NEED TO BE GIVEN MORE PLAYING TIME AT ARSENAL.

TO JANE CAREY. YOUR NOT VERY OBJECTIVE AND FAIR TO THIS PLAYER? WHAT MISTAKES DID HE COMMIT DURING THE LIVERPOOL GAME THAT WERE MORE DREADFUL AS THOSE NORMALY MADE BY THE DJROUI,SQUILLACHI AND KHOZIELINY? THE CLAERENCE THAT WAS BLOCKED BY RAMBO FOR A GOAL WAS NOT A MISTAKE BUT LACK OF AWARENESS BY ALL PLAYERS DEFENDING FOR THE TEAM ON THAT MATERIAL DAY. THANKS PLEASE RESPOND.

For all the effort we have put into the youth system … how many top players have emerged since Cashley Cole ?

Fabregas, Wilshere … anyone else ? Hopefully Ramsey. But I don’t think Clichy was ever a top defender and Walcott is still trying (of of position). Djourou, Senderos .. forget it.

Nearly all the others have ended up on loan or being sold to a lower club for peanuts. Denilson, Bendtner, Vela … might have made it but now we can’t shift them.

This is utterly ridiculous, what the hell are you even talking about with this article? You can watch this young man move for 5 minutes and see he knows what the hell he´s doing. The fact that we all know if this kid spoke french or hah a french passport he would be given a multitude of chances. Yet we keep rolling with tested bargain basement losers. When we have a kid that comes from a disciplined Spanish football base that value the little things like set-piece marking and respecting positioning and communication. Stan, for the love of god get a pair. And Jane, stop writing this rubbish and actually explain why…oh that´s right you can´t. What a joke.
