Arsenal loanee Henri Lansbury has recently stated that he’s prepared to leave the Emirates outfit on a permanent basis in order to secure regular first-team football following a solid performance for West ham on his debut.

The England Under-21 international sealed a season-long loan deal to the Hammers before the transfer window closed a few days ago and managed to get on the score sheet on his first appearance for the Championship side in Saturday’s 4-3 win over Portsmouth.

Prior to his loan move, Lansbury featured as a substitute for Arsenal against Liverpool and Manchester United already this season, but the midfielder has struggled to impress make himself apart of Arsene Wenger’s first team plans.

Following his successful loan spell last season at Norwich City, where he contributed 4 goals and 4 assists in 23 appearances for the Canaries – helping them win promotion to the Premier League, Lansbury was linked with a number of clubs over the summer, one being Norwich City on a permanent basis.

The 20-year-old is rated by Wenger, but Lansbury concedes that he will have to consider his option if the Frenchman does not see him in his near future plans at Arsenal.

The young midfielder told Sky Sports:

‘I spoke to Arsene before and asked if I was in his plans. Wenger said I wouldn’t play that much football and I’m not the type to sit around and get 10 minutes here and there.

‘I asked about going on loan and got the move to West Ham.’

‘He talks how he rates me but obviously he’s not playing me. I need to be playing and West Ham gave me a chance so I wanted to take it.’

‘My priority has been to play in the Arsenal first team since I’ve been a youngster. But if I have to go then I must.’

Arsenal & Wenger are not in a position to let potential leave the club.
I’d sooner have Henry than Diaby in the team.

    I wouldn’t.

We can’t afford to loss any player at this moment,so if i were AW i won’t let him go

When did he mention a permanent basis? He was talking about his loan move. Says he wants to play in the first team for arsenal, but if he must go (ON LOAN!) then he will. Too quick to the negatives! give the boy a chance

You forget that all good players must learn to be patient. I have heard such talk before, Bentley talked the same, I can name more than five players who said exactly the same and their careers did not blossom as they hoped. I wish Lansbury can be a little bit patient, work hard, then he will play. Wilshire waited for his chance, got it and see where he is. Lansbury is good, but this season he was not helped by a media campaign to push Wenger out of Arsenal.

  • My only disappointment is that Wenger has again loaned him to a lower division side, not a Premiership one. We all know how Cleverly, Welbeck and Evans were shaped into accomplished PL players, having been sent out on loan to Premier League sides. I only hope Sam Alardice sharpens his physicality so that he comes back a better player.
