Ex-Gunner claims Bendtner only has himself to blame for Arsenal failure

It’s been less than a week since my last Nicklas Bendtner article, after him telling the world that he will never play for Arsenal again and pinning the blame on Arsene Wenger for his failings over the years.

Well, apparently it wasn’t just me that laughed at his comments. Former Arsenal defensive midfielder Havard Nordtveit also found the Dane’s excuses laughable.

In a recent interview with Danish channel TV2 Sport, Nordtveit, who left the Gunners to join Borussia Mönchengladbach in December 2010, mentioned the 23-year-old forward, and claims that his poor attitude and work ethic were the real reasons why he left Arsenal and hasn’t cemented a first-team role:

‘You could not say much to him (about his game) because it doesn’t take much for him not to like you. He has his own way of doing things, but he could have made more of an effort in training when he was at Arsenal. It was disappointing for Bendtner to have so little time on the field in the last half year. But Arsene Wenger always wants to play with his best players and that’s what he did.’

I think you can call that a rather damning verdict from Nordtveit. He has not exactly held back on his views of Bendtner, and revealed exactly what the Denmark international was/is like on a daily basis at Arsenal.

To be honest, this has not come as a real shock to me – have you seen any of our player claiming that it was a shame to see him leave? Me too.

In recent reports it appears that A.C Milan are interested in signing Bendtner and hopefully Wenger decides to accept ANY bid for him in the winter window or next summer.

I know the subject of his goals at international level will come up in the comments section below, so I’ll address this now.

We have a player who wants to leave the Emirates, who has openly criticised the club and describes himself as one of the best strikers in Europe, and for those reasons this fan does not want to see him at the Emirates ever again.

He didn’t suit Arsenal’s style of football. Poor touches where a good touch is required to play our passing game.
I hope he does really well at Sunderland, then we can flog him off at a good price to AC Milan. I agree his attitude stinks and arrogance reeks even more. I’m glad he’s away from Arsenal, he can keep his negativity at sunderland for this season and hopefully more to come.

He’s good player misses 99% clear scoring chances and only gets 1%. Is that the best strike in the world? No…….n….o…..the worst of all

    …very laughable!

the fact is the goals for denmark were fantastic and may be we are about to begin swallowing our words. Bendtner had a better goal2game ratio even to RVP. Lets not be hypocrytes in this case.

HAHAHA!!! its true Bendtner always had an arrogance about him, even though he hardly ever put in a star performane…. Wasn’t sad to see him go whatsoever
