Manchester City are preparing a £30 million January bid for Arsenal captain Robin van Persie, according to the Mail on Sunday.

Reports suggest that City will table a massive January offer, believed to be around £30 million, for the Arsenal forward if contract talks between the Dutchman and the north London club do not make any significant progress before the transfer window re-opens.

Sources close to Van Persie claim that the striker has become deeply disillusioned over the summer departures of Cesc Fabregas, Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri and has in the past called for Arsene Wenger to bring in top talent, which many, including RVP, feel the Frenchman has not done.

Van Persie, who yesterday managed to notch up 100 goals for Arsenal after bagging two in the Gunners 3-0 win over Bolton, may choose to follow his former team-mates out of the Emirates this winter, which will undoubtedly have the Arsenal faithful and Wenger extremely worried.

RVP’s current contract expires in 2013, meaning Arsenal may be forced to sell their prized asset next summer if they want to see any financial return.

Let’s hope he pens down a new contract ASAP!!!

very believable..we are their feeder club arent we.
The board and wenger should be ashamed. MANCHESTER UNITED AND CHELSEA are not feeder clubs are they?….so why the mighty ARSENAL?
Why are we hoarding money?…..why cant we increase the wages to keep the quality players?
We are a 2nd tier club at best now….a club that looks like the europa cup is going to be our target.
I hope all the AKBs will be happy with our status as a feeder club!!

It is in the Guardian, a paper much better then that rag The Mail. Arsenal needs to understand that their wage structure for the next two years has to go up. They have a responsiblity to a brand that is world wide now. They want to guarantee future after market money in the same league as ManU, they had better wakeup because these clubs WILL find ways to get aroudn this fair play stuff. I would not have sold Cesc, but would have made a bid for top tier defenders. Aresenal has only one now..Sagna, so they have not strenghtened theier squad, Van Persie is going to be what 29/30 at the end of this contract. He is not relishing the prospect of next eyars possible Europa League. He is thinking how many more shots at a cup do I get. Guess what so will Theo, and maybe the oft or diappeared Vermaelen too.

30million?!!!! lets sell him and get another stiker, but i would not love to see RVP leave but if it would bring more fund and a younger striker for my beloved injury prone striker then let him go.
