Why Wenger is still the right man for Arsenal

A number of disgruntled Gooners believe that Arsene Wenger needs to leave Arsenal in order for the club to move forward. Whilst some of you reading this may agree, one man certainly doesn’t, former vice-chairman David Dein.

Dein, who worked with Wenger for almost 12 years, recently stated and believes that the Frenchman is still the best man for Arsenal.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live’s SportsWeek over the weekend, Dein said:

‘He wants to win. I believe in his ability and I know for a fact he is trying very hard to improve the squad this year and I hope he does it. People have got to remember what he has achieved. It is easy in life to get rid of people. Then what? How do you follow Arsene Wenger? That is going to be the trick for the board and it is not going to be an easy exercise.’

Although Arsenal have gone six years without any silverware, my faith is still with Le Professeur.

I know that he has the ability to get us back to the top, just look how close we came last season. We are still a top four side regardless of what people may say – which is more than can be said for most sides in the Premier League. My only worry is that, if Arsenal do decide to part ways with Wenger where would we be?

If anyone deserves to be at the club its Wenger – let’s not forget that he was the mastermind behind our invincible season.

Without question, Arsenal are going to win something in the near future, we just need a little more time to find the winning formula.

I know that there are a lot of ‘glory’ supporters out there who expect to win something year in year out and if this doesn’t happen then they call for a massive shake up within the club. However, truth be told, most Arsenal fans (including myself) believe that Arsene Wenger is still the right/best man for the job.

Keep the faith.

It looks as if David Dein has been smoking or drinking the same mind-bending substances as Dictator Wenger has been.

I agree with you. We should not sack Wenger. I think he can still give us trophies. When he does decide to step down however I think we should look to Dortmund’s Jürgen Klopp.

in as much i respect AW nd his past achievements for d club,i strongly feel he has lost touch with reality and no longer possess wat it takes to won us trophies which is d pride of any supporter, player or club.So he should excuse himself from d club nd allow some1 with fresh brain take charge.

I wouldn’t call myself a glory supporter, but 6 years for a club building from youth is a bloody long time!

Something just isn’t right! why are we hanging on to 2 players that can bring us in about 60 million combined? how can Tottenham manage to sign a player like Van der Vaart for 6 million? why haven’t we put in a decent bid for Mata even though we are obviously interested? why haven’t we signed a decent Centre back yet when it is clear we need at least 1?

Why is Wenger allowing our club to slowly but surely lose all of it’s prestige in luring talent? How on earth did Man City become the place where trophies can be won?

I watched Man Utd tear up the field last night, after taking Vidic and Rio off and putting 2 young fresh players on in their place, and slipping in their surprise package Cleverly in the middle of the field who looks like a class player. They were clicking, their football at times was sublime and it is a completely new look team? how are they able to refurbish a squad and still win the trophies?

Losing hope, but still love the club, Wenger pull it together man!! the fans are seriously hurting!!

Well said. Past performance doesn’t guarantee future success (as the investment companies say) but in Wenger I think Arsenal still have one of the top 5 coaches in the world. We live in a 24 hour media bubble so the focus on the ‘latest news’ on transfers is relentless. But anyone who thinks that Wenger isn’t working his French arse off to try and bring in new quality players, at the right price, is living in cloud cuckoo land. And the key is ‘right price’!!! If we’d have spent £50m on Carroll and Henderson we’d have thought Wenger was out of his mind. These are crazy prices for unproven players. We will strengthen before the end of the month, and undoubtedly we’ll lose a playeror two (no guesses who) but I still believe we’ll be there or there abouts at the end of the season.

  • Kenneth says:

Yeah right, he did very well in the past but ever since what went wrong? I just believe Mr. wenger has lost the plot and doesn’t seem to know his way back.

The invincibles did not have players like Squillaci or an attacker like chamakh who cannot run at any defense. . . . He just isn’t buying right kind of players.
