Arsenal are eyeing up Marseille winger Andre Ayew to replace contract rebel Samir Nasri, according to French sources.

Arsene Wenger, who is known to be a keen admirer of the 21-year-old Ghanaian, sees Ayew as a potential replacement for Man city-bound Nasri.

Although Ayew penned a three-year contract extension with OM last year – which expires in June 2014 – his future at the French club remains uncertain.

The winger, who bagged 13 goals and 3 assists in 50 appearances for OM last season, has admitted some frustration with his current situation and has also confessed that he would like to test his abilities elsewhere.

It is believed that his current deal carries a €13 million (£11.4 million) buyout clause.

So, would it be wise for Wenger to snap up Andre Ayew? In one word: yes.

Although Ayew is young, there’s no denying that he is a talented footballer.

The 5’9’’ Ghanaian, who was voted Marseille’s best player last season, packs speed and skill in abundance. He has exceptionally good footwork, good movement on and off the ball, versatility, as well as an eye for goal. Granted, he may not be the most creative player out there, but he could certainly bring something new to the Arsenal table.

If the buyout clause price is accurate, then £11.4 million for a player of Ayew’s quality would certainly be a bargain for Arsenal.
