Ignasi Miquel has recently announced that he would love to break into the first-team at Arsenal this season, but does he have what it takes to do so?
The 18-year-old Spaniard has recently experienced glory, winning the Under-19 European Championship with Spain and has set his sights on making the first-team this season.
Miquel told SkySports.com:
‘Coming back from winning it is really big and I am coming back confident. Winning the European Cup and being called up for the first-team without training with them – I am really happy. I go back now trying to improve myself to become better.’
My current thoughts are that he is still too young to experience first-team action in the Premier League, especially on a regular basis for a club like Arsenal.
Yes, Miquel is talented and we all know that Arsenal desperately need a defender to come in. However, currently, I don’t think that we could rely on Miquel, not this season anyway.
If he was five years older and had experience under his belt, then he would be an ideal candidate to step in, but this isn’t the case.
I believe he needs to gain experience; maybe a loan spell to another Premier League side this season would be ideal for the young Spaniard, as I don’t foresee a lot of opportunities for him at the Emirates this year.

I don’t know why Bartley is going on loan again, but Miquel is staying. Surely it should be the other way round.
Miquel is obviously talented, but watching him against orient, you got the feeling he wasn’t there yet. He was too weak when it mattered, and the mistake made by him and (I think) Gibbs allowed tehoue through to score an equaliser. You’d hate to think what would happen if he were starting games in the PL.

I have watched him play last season, I think he is a better player than squillachi, well faster anyway, I do like him though Miquel, thought he was one for the future, I think Arsene should give him playing time this season.

Miquel is going on loan
Both Bartley and Miquel are Arsenal stars in the making. I would like to see them at the Emirates this season but no doubt Arsene has other ideas and we must accept them.
The other youngster I’m sure will be a hit this season is Ryo Miyaichi and he could well be our trump card after the departure of Fabregas and Nasri.

The biggest mistake would be to loan him. That means bad blood from the minute attempt to loan. This guy is better squillaci and djorou put together. He is almost as good as the current defenders vermalen and co. and is more skillful than all of our defenders. if Jack wilshere could get starting berth last season and thus fine tuned him into the player that he is,then miquel deserves the same. My verdict – do not loan him
