Expect the rumours to be coming thick and fast for the next few weeks, the latest one off the press is that Arsenal have been linked with Costa Rican winger Bryan Ruiz, who has also attracted interest from the dark side of North London (Tottenham) – he is valued in the region of £13 million.

The 25-year-old, who currently plays for F.C Twente, is known for his ball control, vision and heading. Ruiz is also credited with scoring one of the quickest hat-tricks in history against Sparta Rotterdam in late March last year, with goals in the 46th, 49th and 50th minute.

This could just be the media picking names from the hat, and signing another midfielder is probably on the cards for Arsenal, especially with the likely departures of Cesc and Samir. However, I wouldn’t hold my breath on Ruiz joining us. Obviously this is just my opinion, but there are a lot of players out there that we will be linked too in the next 20 days.

However, Ruiz may be on his way out this summer. FC Twente chairman Joop Munsterman recently stated:

‘Last year we made the deal that this summer he could go at a good price.’

As I mentioned earlier, Tottenham are also chasing Ruiz’s signature and the man himself is aware of the interest from Spurs and appears to be partly interested in a move to our rivals.

The midfielder recently stated:

‘I have three weeks left to transfer and I hope I can change to one of the best leagues, such as the English, otherwise I will stay in Twente.’

‘I was told about Spurs’ interest on Friday. Spurs are a great club and I’d be honoured to play alongside Rafael van der Vaart.’

I don’t see Arsenal signing this guy, as Wenger has his eyes set on Valencia’s Juan Mata, a much better all-round player than Ruiz in my opinion.
