You will be forgiven for thinking this was an article about Cesc Fabregas. However, it is in fact about our 19-year-old Bolivian starlet Samuel Galindo, who is due to join Gimnastic De Tarragona on a season long loan.

Galindo joined Arsenal back in 2010 from Real America and spent last season on loan with Salamanca, where he made 8 appearances for the Spanish club.

His reason for his loan spell is due to problems gaining a work permit, so the Gunners thought it best that the youngster gains experience abroad until the problems can be resolved.

Galindo, who is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also be deployed as a left winger and striker, is more than aware of these problems, but has expressed a desire to play for Arsenal one day.

In October 2010, Galindo said:

‘Arsenal? it is a dream. The truth is that I didn’t expect it. When they announced their interest, it really touched me. Now it is a reality and I have to prove they made the right decision to sign me.’

He went on to comment about his work permit issues and how it is difficult to obtain one as a South American player:

‘It’s been very hard work with all the issues with the paperwork, It is difficult for a player out of South America because there are many bureaucratic problems. It took a lot but I’m here.’

no doubt people are going to blame wenger for his visa problems…

  • Dan AKA The Truth says:

Well maybe if he weren’t so obsessive over signing young non-EU players, we won’t have these problems.

obsessive? hows that? botelho, silva, galindo, miyaichi that is it since denilson and he has been with us 5 years. 5 players in 5 years wow how obsessive!! BTW Wenger only recommends them to the board after his scouts have looked at them. Again hardly obsessive.
