Why Wenger should attempt a £10M + Denilson bid to land this man

Reports have emerged that Bolton are chasing want-away Arsenal midfielder Denilson, while the Gunners are still looking to strengthen their back-line with the capture of Gary Cahill – could there be a potential swap deal on the cards this summer?

Arsene Wenger is a keen admirer of the 25-year-old Bolton centre-back, but appears unwilling to cough up the £17 million asking price for the England international.

The Frenchman has in the past offered Owen Coyle a number of Arsenal players, including Henri Lansbury, Ignasi Miquel and newly Nicklas Bendtner, to try and reduce his expenditure on the defender. However, these bids were promptly turned by Coyle, indicating that he would prefer straight up cash for Cahill this summer.

But reports now suggest that Bolton are very keen on Denilson, which has given Wenger yet another player to try and force a swap deal for Cahill.

Denilson, who has fallen out-of-favour at the Emirates since Jack Wilshere’s emergence, would cost Coyle up to £6-7 million – if he wants to buy the Arsenal midfielder outright. However, I believe that Wenger should try and force a swap deal involving the want-away Brazilian, as the Frenchman could then acquire his target for around £10 million, whilst keeping £7 million in his pocket for possibly another player on his list.

It’s worth a go in my book. Cahill seems keen on a move to Arsenal according to some of his friends, and should the swap deal plus cash prove successful, then we would be killing two birds with one stone – signing a much needed centre-back and getting rid of Denilson.

Newcastle and Malaga have also expressed an interest in the Brazilian, but I think Wenger should try this proposed swap deal before listening to any other offers for the midfielder this summer.

What do you guys think, is this potential deal worth a go?

its a good deal, Arsene Wenger should go ahead to strenghten the defense line, we cant rely on Gibbs alone, we need a matured head like Cahill

what are u waiting for wenger? go 4 it with double hands.

  • Davi says:

Lansbury will be a much better player in his position than cahill ever will.

Preparing to toss another season in the bin, what are you his agent? Though Lansbury ‘may’ have a future, the youth policy is overdone, and in it’s death throes. Cahill is better than what we’ve got, without a ‘now’, there is no ‘future’ – I see you’re still having a spot of trouble with that one, but rest asssured most professionals do know what we’ve become, unfortunately for us.

Source?? Or is it just something else made up to get us to read? surely wenger wouldnt care about a swap deal or getting the money for denilson as he’d still be 7 million up. we wont be signing any defenders do people listen to arsene when he speaks before they write about his plans. wish i was wrong but dont see it happening x

You know, being a journalist is not only about algebra. You can’t just add those x’s and y’s any way you like. If someone (a journalist like yourself) claims Cahill is worth 17 mil, then someone (a journalist like yourself) stipulates that Denilson might go for 6 or 7 mil, it’s not like you can just add these figures and call it news. It’s an outright lie.
Outside of that, it’s simply stupid.

Erm…Cahill has a price-tag of £17M, whilst Denilson’s price-tag would have dropped a lot due to his cameo appearances last season – so don’t know what you’re on about…again

if this article were to be true then im all for it, denilson is a joke, when he first came to arsenal i saw alot of potential in him but sadly hes gone backwards, as the seasons have gone on he has become worse, maybe its motivation, maybe its players around him, or maybe its because he just doesnt care or he is just happy to pick up his pay packet, him and 10 mill for cahill would be a great deal, we have plenty of good midfielders with jack and ramsey showing great promise its in the defence were we lack, we lose because we dont have enough experience and strength in the defensive department, check our stats. GO GUNNERS
