Here’s a question – should Arsenal try and sign Wolfsburg’s Brazilian playmaker Diego this summer?
I ask this as there are rumours circulating that the 26-year-old attacking midfielder could be on his way out of Bundersliga club this summer because of his temperament.
Although the Germans would want a fee of around £15-20 million for Diego, and the player himself would require at least £75,000-a-week – is this a player for Wenger to consider recruiting?
Diego, who managed to bag 6 goals and 10 assists in 32 appearances last season for the German club, possesses great playmaking ability, skill, movement and a piercing eye for goal as well. However, some may argue that he may lack the physical attributes required for the Premier League.
However, despite his obvious ability, the 5’9’’ Brazilian does have his flaws – this mainly being his temper. If he does not get his way then he will throw tantrums as he has done in the past.
In February this year, Diego was fined by the club after taking the ball off designated penalty taker Patrick Helmes and hitting the crossbar 10 minutes from time, which resulted in a loss for Wolfsburg. He then got into trouble with management prior to their crucial relegation decider against Hoffenheim when he left the team hotel after being told he wasn’t selected in the first-team, which left Wolfsburg with only six substitutes.
I believe the Gunners should definitely consider Diego this summer, if of course Fabregas and Nasri both depart the Emirates.
Yeah alright he may have a temper problem, but I believe that Arsene Wenger could curb this and get the best out the Brazilian. I’m not saying we should go all out for him, but at least contemplate a move for the talented Brazilian as a replacement for one of our potential want-away midfielders.
Liverpool, Tottenham and Aston Villa are also believed to be monitoring the situation.

if we can get him anywhere near the standard that he was plating for werder bremen then we will have an amazing player.
watched him single handedly get them to the uefa cup final against some good teams and have loved this guy since.
not sure about the 15-20m £ fee. there were reports earlier on that they wanted him out of the club and were willing to let go for 8 million
i think Diego will b a good addition 4 us cos we always have injury problems wen we need our best players all season.so wit him we’ll have more options.
Diego is not a young boy, so Wenger won’t be interested in him.
We’ll only sign players of the Diego’s quality once Wenger the coward is gone!

I’ve seen him play quite a lot and although he is extremely talented he only turns up in a game if he wants to. Great skill going forward but at no point whatsoever does he track back. Easily wound up too…

No sorry, he’s another Arshavin. He has the skill and ability but he shows up when he wants to, not when he needs to.
Diego had a bright future ahead of him when he started but he is obviously a troublesome player if all the clubs he’s been at want to offload him so easily.
