Is Samir Nasri overrated?

|

His passing attributes, technical ability and intelligent play, has made him a creative force to reckon with. His finishing has also looked deadly recently, and he has regularly stepped up and delivered in the big games. He looks at home in this Arsenal team as our ‘pass and move’ style allows his strengths to come to the fore. Nasri has scored some amazing goals and it shows the magic he can produce. Last year also showed that he can win matches on his own, as his performance against Fulham showed.

He has certainly developed into a better player over the years. So a £26 million valuation of him isn’t unfair, and in my opinion, Arsenal are quite right to demand such a fee even though he is in the last year of his contract.

But my doubt is whether he would fit (I hope not) into those teams? With Rooney playing the playmaker role at Old Trafford, Nasri will not be in his natural position at United.

How will Manchester City play Silva and Nasri in the same team? He will be forced to play in a wide role at Chelsea because of Lampard’s presence. But with Fabregas departing, Nasri is in pole position to take up the playmaker position, if he stays of course. Personally, I don’t see him being as influential as he is at Arsenal in other teams.

So, if money isn’t Nasri’s motive and football is, I am amused by him wanting to leave. Ok, he hasn’t won anything, but he has been here for just three years and is still only 24. He clearly has three more years before he reaches his peak, so he has time on his side.

Why not Arsenal then? It is always great to win silverware with a team in which you are at ease in and are an integral part of.

Arsenal are a team that is still evolving, and if Wenger’s promised summer signings do arrive, Nasri will have a team around him which will deliver trophies. So in essence, it is in Wenger’s hands. However, if he is so adamant on leaving, then Arsenal should get £25 million and ship him out.

For all his amazing skills and abilities, I just don’t want another Cesc Fabregas in the making. None of us want a player in the team who is sulking and has his mind elsewhere.

I’ve become a fan of these players and all I can do is wish the best if he does leave, though he owes us for what we’ve done for him over the years.

As we’ve heard time and again – we have lost better players and survived.

The issue is that if Nasri wants to go let him go if not we have another fabregas in our hand playing without putting your heart into it. trophies yes, their [fabnas] may be the turning point. presently they are turning to BIG DISTRACTION. Where is adebayor, flamini, hleb etc now? LET THEM GO ARSENAL WILL NOT DIE BUT WAX STRONGER.

I don’t think he’s overated…besides Spurs want £35m for Modric which i think is on the high side. If Nasri wants to leave because he feels Arsenal cannot win any trophies next season, its all good.,i just hope he doesn’t want out because of the money. Come to think of it,what’s the assurance that if he leaves,he’s career would blossom better than it already has…no body is indispensable. I also feel Nasri & Fab have become more of a distraction to the club. I only hope if they both leave, Wenger does the right thing by buying other players who can step up to the challenges ahead
