Stewart Robson has urged Arsene Wenger too swiftly sell Cesc Fabregas and end the transfer saga which is halting Arsenal’s overall progress.

Robson, who was with Arsenal for 8 years during the late 70’s – mid 80’s, believes that the chronicle surrounding Fabregas’ move to Barcelona is stopping Wenger from concentrating on the most important thing at hand, strengthening the team for the new season ahead.

The ex-Arsenal midfielder told talkSPORT yesterday that the time has come for the Gunners to cut the 24-year-old Spaniard loose and focus on ending the clubs six-year trophy drought:

‘It happened with Thierry Henry for two or three years, [Arsene Wenger] kept on saying we’re not going to sell him but it was obvious Thierry Henry wanted to go. That was a distraction not just for Arsene Wenger but for the whole football club.’

‘Everybody at Arsenal knows that Cesc Fabregas is going to go and the sooner he goes the better as far as I’m concerned. Not because he is a bad player, not because he is a bad character but because it will put an end to the speculation.’

‘Then Arsene Wenger can go and buy a replacement or he can give Samir Nasri more money to keep him and buy two centre-halves. The sale of Cesc Fabregas is key to Arsenal’s summer signings.’

I couldn’t agree more with Robson.

I also believe that the time has come for Cesc to leave, as I feel his heart is not with the club, even though he may claim it is.

His potential sale could lead to better things for the club as Robson stated.

Fabregas’ departure would free up some money on our wage bill, which could then be offered to contract rebel Samir Nasri. As well as that, a potential £40 milllion from the Spaniard’s sale to Barca would also allow us to go out and buy what we truly require before the new season kicks off.

The sooner this transfer saga, which has been going on for almost two years now, is over the better – not only for Wenger and the club, but for us (the fans) as well.

Do you agree with Robson’s claims?

Everybody sees the obvious, except Wenger! Why not put Fabregas up 4 sale to the highest bidder if only to pull Barcelonas legs? The money then re-invested in Mata, Cahill and Enrique-REVAMPING Arsenal into champions as a way of making Cesc drool with envy!!!

I jet what you mean and to a certain extent i agree with you. But truth be told we are dam near perfect with him, the entire starting 11 . He is the guy who swiftly switches us from defence to attack and peole like walcot benefit from his passes.
