Norwich City want to sign Arsenal youngster Henri Lansbury on a permanent basis this summer, according to several reports.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been with the Gunners since 1999 after joining from the Canaries youth setup as an 9-year-old, but has struggled to breakthrough at the Emirates.

Lansbury, who has made just 6 appearances for Arsenal, was loaned out to Norwich in the second half of last season and played a big part in helping the club clinch promotion back to the Premier League, by bagging 4 goals and 5 assists in 23 Championship appearances.

It is believed that Paul Lambert wants to bring the England Under-21 international back to Carrow Road on a permanent basis this summer, and is hoping to persuade Arsene Wenger to sell the youngster for around £2 million.

Lansbury wants to stay at Arsenal and has made it clear that he wants to emulate Jack Wilshere. However, the young midfielder could be loaned out once again, even if he does sign a new deal at the Emirates.

He was born in 1990. I think you meant he left the canaries at the age of 8. We are in 2011 remember?

Thanks for the positive comment mate. I really want him to stay too and push for a place in the first-team squad. However, I think he will be loaned out this season.

    • Tony Merakli says:

Interesting view, you really think he is a ready-made replacement for Nasri? I still think he has a lot to learn

Lansbury isn’t ready and has to learn consistancy. Another loan season and then it’s make or break time to be fair. He’s good, but nowhere near the level we need him to be at in order to push for the title. This coming season is about experience and winning, we simply cannot afford to blood a load of youngsters in the first team or we’ll be watching our European exploits on channel 5 the following season if we’re lucky.
