Would this Wigan star be a sensible acquisition for Arsenal this summer?

|

Another day another Arsenal rumour, it seems at the moment we are linked with just about everyone – the latest being Wigan star Charles N’Zogbia, who is believed to be valued at around £10 million this summer.

While I’m not 100% certain about this rumour, and it really could just be a case of the media clutching at straws, personally I cannot see Arsene Wenger going for N’Zogbia this summer despite his impressive performances this season.

I simply can’t see where he would fit into the team, especially when we currently don’t know who is leaving the club.

Charles N’Zogbia has recently announced that he wants to stay in the Premier League, but is uncertain if he will remain at Wigan, with the Frenchman thought to be eyeing up a move to a bigger club.

It has been reported that Newcastle have already had a £5 million bid rejected for his services, which given his current valuation, is totally understandable from Wigan’s point of view.

Now for argument sake, IF Arsenal are interested in N’Zogbia, then I really don’t see how he is going to solve our problems at the club, so focusing our attention on him would seem a strange way to go this summer. Although, saying that, it’s not the first time that we have been linked with the Wigan star.

In 2009 Arsenal were linked with a move for Charles N’Zogbia when he was at Newcastle, but nothing transpired. Then, in 2010, the same rumour was floating around, again nothing occurred.

However, Charles N’Zogbia did express his desire to play for Arsenal back in 2009. The Frenchman said:

‘Arsenal is the club that makes me dream the most in the Premier League.’

It is worth noting that most of the talk about a possible move to Arsenal is from Charles N’Zogbia himself, not that of the North London club (make what you will of this).

In my opinion, although N’Zogbia looks a decent player, I truly believe there are better options out there for Wenger and Arsenal to look at.

Would N’Zogbia make a good signing, or should Arsenal focus on other players this summer?

what do mean where he will fit in????

He WILL be our own LEFT FOOTED WINGER!!!

    WILL BE A BRILLIANT SIGNING!!

Wenger decided not to sign him when he left Newcastle, maybe for a reason, and I don’t see him signing N’Zogbia now

I just dont get how people can decide on whether we need him or not, when there are so many decisions to be made by so many people. For example should no players leave then sure we probably dont need Nzogbia or Hazard or chamberlain or young for that matter. However, should Arshavin, Rosicky, Nasri and Vela leave the club this summer then we would probably need all 4. If nobody left the club this summer then we would probably only buy a DM and a CH as we definitely need cover for Song and an improvement at the back. Before we replace anyone we need to know who is staying and who is going, if you believe all of what you read the following 1st team squad players futures are uncertain

    Almunia
    Lehmann
    Mannone
    Eboue
    Sagna
    Eastmond
    Clichy
    Gibbs
    Traore
    Squillaci
    Denilson
    Diaby
    Lansbury
    Fabregas
    Nasri
    Rosicky
    Arshavin
    Bendtner
    Vela
    Chamakh

Sure they wont all leave and actually only one 1st team squad player (Lehmann) is out of contract.

5 of them Clihy, Nasri, Traore, Almunia and Lansbury have 1 year left

3 of them Fabregas, Denilson and Bendtner have made it pretty clear they would like to leave.

Once the 9 players futures have been resolved the other 10 on the list should be next.

Then and only then will Wenger really be able to start making plans. Hopefully he already knows what is happening with most for certain??

What Arsenal have lacked all season are natural born wingers and because of that our play has been limited to playing through the middle. If Arsenal do sign him it will be good because it’ll stretch our play.

  • Biscuit says:

Plain and simply he is not good enough to play for Arsenal. The whole first team and most of the squad are much better then this player. So I really, really, really hope that Wenger doesn’t pursue him this transfer window or any other transfer window.

would be a good signing who offers depth as he can take over eboue role on the right of midfield/right back as well as having the capabiity to challenge for a start on the left

  • At times if i see d way that arsene wenger handle the club i alwys pity 4 those players and fans. Bcos they are turn d club 2 a busines. Pls arsenal fans is dat d way evrything we going. Pls lets find somethg 2 do bcos 6yrs without trophy. Haa oga o. Me personaly im feedup 4 arsene wenger.
