Defoe reminds me a little of Ruud van Nistelrooy – he always seems to be in the right place at the right time and has that killer instinct about him. He isn’t afraid to have a go from distance, which 90% of our players don’t do – he could certainly offer something different to the team. Also, he’s the kind of striker that can change games. Look at how he changed the game against us at the Emirates when he came on at half-time. We literally didn’t have an answer.
The fact that he is a current Spurs player doesn’t bother me in the slightest, although some may see it as a major factor. But are they telling me they wouldn’t want Rafael van der Vaart if we could get him? Look at Sol Campbell – ex-Spurs player who joined Arsenal and was one of our most successful players of recent years.
The two major factors for me are that he’s an inconsistent player, and one who looks to unsettle the side. Wenger would be replacing Mr Inconsistent (Bendtner) with another.
I can see him coming to Arsenal, play a few games, have a dip in form, gets benched, moan then request to leave – we don’t need another episode of this. Defoe is the kind of player who needs to play week in week out otherwise he won’t be happy.
I do think Defoe would be a good signing for the Gunners, and think he’ll work well within the team, but the formation will have to be altered – possibly back into a 4-4-2 or a new 4-1-2-1-2 system.
However, his form will need to improve and will have to deliver; otherwise the Arsenal faithful will be on his back, as well as Wenger’s.
Defoe for £10 million would be a bargain, especially with the amount of Premier League experience he acquires.
Maybe Defoe IS the man with the experience that we need in the team – the man to take Arsenal forward next season, and the start of a spending spree, which could then tie Samir Nasri down to a new contract.
Still, I remain on the fence on this one.

I think he is a decent player, the only problem is he is inconsistant. I personally think there are better options and I would look elsewhere.

I would personally give Defoe a Warm Welcome.
Defoe is injury prone would spend more time on the
table than on the pitch.waste of money.
Lets be honest he wouldnt be the first player to go from the dark side to us. It would be weird but yeah think he would be welcomed eventually
