Robin van Persie is the latest Gunner to call upon Arsene Wenger to add to the squad this summer in order for the club to challenge for honours next season, according to Sky Sports.

The Gunners failed to lift any form of silverware last season, despite such a promising start.

The clubs trophy drought now stretches to six-years, and Dutch striker, Robin van Persie, believes that they can not be considered among the favourites for the Premier League title anymore.

However, the 28-year-old forward is confident that the North London club will be able to compete for the domestic title if Wenger acquires players during the summer break:

‘Every year it goes wrong in an identical way and that is frustrating.’

‘When you look at results in the last years, Arsenal shouldn’t be talking about winning the league because too many times that has gone wrong.’

‘Of course the hunger and desire is great but sometimes you have to eat and be realistic.’

‘But I believe with the signing of a number of players, we should be in there competing for the prizes.’

First Samir Nasri, then Theo Walcott, and now Robin ban Persie – surely Wenger must heed their calls.

I, like probably ever Arsenal fan, agree with RVP’s assessment.

Arsenal must acquire a number of players (the right ones of course) this summer in order to challenge for the Premier League title next season. If he doesn’t, then we will be struggling to compete for fourth, especially if our star players depart as well.

Get your cheque book out Wenger and start acquiring us some top notch talent in order to make Arsenal FC great once again…this drought must be stopped.

Spending wisely means buying who we need as a team and selling who we do not need. For instance, we have defensive fragility player in the market that can help us solidify our defense – Get Birmingham Roger Johnson – Tall(6’3), Tough(ask Arsenal about the Carling Cup disappointment), Injury free, Gets a few goals once in a while and is a proven performer and great in forming partnerships. He is Cheap and having been given a chance to play top level football will be committed. He is 28 so will allow the youngsters spaces in due time…(get either Samba or Gary Cahill for assurance) In defensive Mid (Gokhan Inler or Jan Vertonghen) – Midfield – chose two from Edin Hazard, Ricky Alvarez and Dario Conca – Strikers 2 from – Fernardo Llorient, Pappis Cisse, Radamel Falcao or Karim Benzima. (sell – Almunia, Schillachi, Denilson, Rosicky, Fabregas, Bendtner and Vela) release Nasri and Clichy if they want to go to.
